Beim reinen Biegen, wenn die maximale Spannung die Streckgrenze des Materials des Bauteils übersteigt, wird es plastisch verformt.
Die Dehnung an einem beliebigen Punkt des Stabes wird als maximale Dehnung ausgedrückt. Bei plastischen Verformungen darf die neutrale Achse des Bauteils nicht durch den Schwerpunkt des Bauteils verlaufen.
Dabei wird die neutrale Achse des Stabes mit einem iterativen Verfahren so lange lokalisiert, bis die Spannungsverteilungskurve gebildet ist.
Bei Stäben mit einer vertikalen und einer horizontalen Symmetrieebene und dem gleichen Spannungs-Dehnungs-Verhältnis für beide Achsen stimmt die neutrale Achse mit der horizontalen Symmetrieachse überein. Die Spannungsverteilungskurve kann mit einem bestimmten Maximalspannungswert dargestellt werden.
Dabei wird das Biegemoment eines solchen Stabes in Bezug auf die Breite des Stabes und die Spannung im Abstand y von der neutralen Achse angegeben. Der Wert des Biegemoments, das zum Versagen eines Stabes führt, kann experimentell ermittelt werden.
Dieses ultimative Biegemoment ergibt die entsprechende maximale Spannung, die als Bruchmodul bezeichnet wird.

Es ist wichtig zu verstehen, wie sich Bauteile bei plastischer Verformung verhalten, wenn die Biegespannung die Streckgrenze des Materials übersteigt. Dieser Verformungszustand verändert die Form des Bauteils dauerhaft, im Gegensatz zum linearen elastischen Verhalten, das vor dem Nachgeben beobachtet wurde. Die Dehnung an jedem Punkt des Bauteils wird als maximale Dehnung ausgedrückt. Das Auffinden der neutralen Achse in diesem veränderten Zustand erfordert eine iterative Methode, bei der die angenommene Position der Achse angepasst wird, bis sich die Spannungsverteilungskurve stabilisiert. Dieser Prozess ist besonders einfach bei Bauteilen, die symmetrisch zu vertikalen und horizontalen Ebenen sind und entlang dieser Achsen identische Spannungs-Dehnungs-Reaktionen aufweisen, sodass die neutrale Achse an der horizontalen Symmetrieebene ausgerichtet werden kann.

Die Spannungsverteilung für solche symmetrischen Elemente kann mithilfe maximaler Spannungswerte als Funktion des Abstands von der neutralen Achse abgebildet werden. Durch Experimente wird das ultimative Biegemoment ermittelt – das maximale Moment, das ein Bauteil aushalten kann, bevor es versagt. Dieses Moment korreliert mit dem Bruchmodul R_u, das proportional zu M_u ist, dem Biegemoment, bei dem das Bauteil versagt. M_u ist ein kritischer Wert, der die Endfestigkeit des Materials unter Biegebeanspruchung angibt. Das Verständnis dieser Prinzipien ermöglicht die Konstruktion von Strukturen, die höheren Belastungen ohne katastrophale Ausfälle standhalten und so die Sicherheit und Effizienz erhöhen.

Plastic Deformations

Plastic bending changes the shape of a structural member after the bending stress goes beyond the material’s yield strength. Before yielding, the member behaves in a linear elastic way. After yielding, the deformation is permanent. The strain at any point in the member is described in terms of the maximum strain.

During elastic bending, the neutral axis, where strain is zero, matches the centroid. Under plastic conditions, that axis shifts away from the centroid. Finding its new position uses an iterative method. The assumed axis position is adjusted until the stress distribution curve becomes stable.

For members that are symmetric about both vertical and horizontal planes, this process is simpler. If the stress-strain response is the same along both axes, the neutral axis can align with the horizontal plane of symmetry. The stress distribution in these members can then be mapped using maximum stress values as a function of distance from the neutral axis.

The video also examines the ultimate bending moment, or the maximum moment a member can resist before failure. Experiments are used to determine this value. It is related to the modulus of rupture, Ru, which is proportional to Mu, the bending moment at failure. Mu is a key measure of a material’s ultimate strength under bending stress, and it helps engineers design safer structures that can carry higher loads without catastrophic failure.
