Wenn ein ausreichend großes Biegemoment auf ein elastoplastisches Bauteil aufgebracht wird, entwickeln sich plastische Zonen im Bauteil.
Wenn nun das Biegemoment auf Null reduziert wird, kann die Spannungs- und Dehnungsreduzierung als gerade Linie im Spannungs-Dehnungs-Diagramm dargestellt werden.
Das Anwenden des Biegemoments von Null auf seinen Maximalwert wird als Belastungsphase bezeichnet, und die Abnahme des Biegemoments von seinem Maximalwert auf Null wird als Entlastungsphase bezeichnet.
Während der Entlastungsphase ist die Spannung an keinem Punkt Null und hat möglicherweise nicht das gleiche Vorzeichen wie während der Belastungsphase, was zu einer Eigenspannung führt.
Die Spannung und Dehnung stehen während der Entlastungsphase in einem linearen Verhältnis, und es können elastische Biegeformeln angewendet werden.
Die Eigenspannungen können nach dem Überlagerungsprinzip berechnet werden. Zuerst werden die Spannungen aufgrund des Biegemoments während der Belastungsphase, die der elastoplastischen Natur entsprechen, und die Spannungen aufgrund des entgegengesetzten Biegemoments während der Entlastungsphase, entsprechend der elastischen Natur, addiert, um die Eigenspannung zu erhalten.

Residual Stresses in Bending

Bei der Untersuchung elastoplastischer Bauteile, die Biegemomenten ausgesetzt sind, ist das Verständnis der Belastungs- und Entlastungsphasen für die Beurteilung des Materialverhaltens und der strukturellen Integrität von entscheidender Bedeutung. Während der Belastungsphase reagiert das Material mit zunehmendem Biegemoment zunächst elastisch und folgt dem Hookeschen Gesetz, bei dem die Spannung direkt proportional zur Dehnung ist. Wenn die Belastung die Streckgrenze überschreitet, kommt es zu einer plastischen Verformung, die zu einer bleibenden Spannung und Verformung führt, die auch nach Wegnahme der Belastung bestehen bleibt.

Mit dem Absinken des Biegemoments auf Null beginnt die Entlastungsphase. Anders als bei rein elastischen Materialien geht die Spannung in einem elastoplastischen Bauteil beim Entladen nicht den ursprünglichen Belastungspfad zurück, sondern folgt einem neuen, linearen Pfad. Diese Änderung weist auf das Vorhandensein von Eigenspannungen hin, die aufgrund der während der Belastung verursachten irreversiblen plastischen Dehnungen bestehen bleiben.

Die Berechnung dieser Eigenspannungen erfolgt nach dem Superpositionsprinzip, bei dem Spannungen aus der elastoplastischen Belastungsphase mit denen aus der elastischen Entlastungsphase kombiniert werden.

Während der Entlastung wird die Spannungs-Dehnungs-Beziehung wieder linear, was die Verwendung elastischer Biegeformeln ermöglicht. Diese Phase ist für technische Anwendungen von entscheidender Bedeutung, da Eigenspannungen das Strukturverhalten bei wiederholten Belastungen beeinflussen und möglicherweise zu unerwarteten Ausfällen führen können. Das Verständnis dieser Dynamik ermöglicht den Entwurf sichererer und zuverlässigerer Strukturen durch genaue Vorhersage und Bewältigung der Belastungen, die sich aus komplexen Belastungsszenarien ergeben.

Bending in elastoplastic members shows how a material responds during loading and unloading. At first, the member behaves elastically, so stress is proportional to strain and follows Hooke's Law. This stage continues until the bending moment becomes large enough to pass the yield strength.

Once yield strength is exceeded, plastic deformation begins. Plastic deformation means the material does not fully return to its original shape. It leaves permanent strain and deformation even after the load is removed.

When the bending moment is reduced back to zero, unloading begins. The stress path does not retrace the original loading path in an elastoplastic member. Instead, it follows a new linear path, which shows that residual stresses remain in the material.

Residual stresses are the stresses that stay behind because plastic strain is irreversible. They can be found by superposition, which combines the stresses from elastoplastic loading with the stresses from elastic unloading. During unloading, the stress-strain relationship becomes linear again, so elastic flexure formulas can be used.

This unloading behavior matters in engineering because residual stresses can affect how a structure responds to repeated loads. They may contribute to unexpected failure if they are not considered. Understanding loading, yielding, and unloading helps engineers design safer and more reliable structures.
