Impact Loading

Stellen Sie sich einen Stab mit gleichmäßiger Querschnittsfläche vor, der an einem Ende befestigt ist. Wenn ein anderes bewegliches Objekt auf das freie Ende der Stange trifft, verformt sich die Stange und es entsteht eine Spannung in ihr. 
Wenn die Stange die maximale Spannung erreicht, vibriert sie in etwa in der mittleren Position. Der aufgebaute Stress verschwindet, wenn er zur Ruhe kommt. Diese Ereignisse werden als Stoßbelastung bezeichnet.
Dabei wird davon ausgegangen, dass der Schlagkörper seine gesamte Energie auf den Stab überträgt, d.h. es findet keine Wärmeableitung statt und der Schlagkörper prallt nicht vom Stab ab.
Die Dehnungsenergie, die der maximalen Spannung entspricht, entspricht also der kinetischen Energie des Aufprallkörpers.
Im elastischen Bereich der Verformung kann die Dehnungsenergie in Bezug auf die maximale Spannung und den Elastizitätsmodul umgeschrieben werden.
Ordnet man die Terme um, erhält man einen Ausdruck für die maximale Spannung in Bezug auf die Geschwindigkeit des Aufprallkörpers.
Die hier verwendete Annahme führt zu einer konservativen Auslegung der Stoßbelastung, da die Annahmen in realen Systemen nicht valide sind.

Eine Stoßbelastung tritt auf, wenn ein beweglicher Gegenstand mit einer unbeweglichen Struktur zusammenstößt, beispielsweise mit einem Stab mit gleichmäßigem Querschnitt, der an einem Ende befestigt ist. Unter diesen Bedingungen absorbiert der Stab die kinetische Energie des auftreffenden Gegenstands, was zu Verformungen und anschließender Spannungsentwicklung führt. Wenn der Stab in seine Ausgangsposition zurückkehrt und die maximale Spannung erreicht, wandelt sich die absorbierte Energie, die zunächst als kinetische Energie vorliegt, vollständig in Dehnungsenergie um.

Bei elastischer Verformung, bei der das Material ohne bleibende Schäden in seine ursprüngliche Form zurückkehrt, entspricht die am Punkt der maximalen Verformung angesammelte Dehnungsenergie der kinetischen Energie des bewegten Objekts. Diese Äquivalenz setzt voraus, dass keine Energie durch Wärme oder Rückstoß verloren geht, eine Idealisierung, die in der Praxis normalerweise nicht zu finden ist. Aus dieser Beziehung lässt sich die maximale Spannung ableiten, die der Stab basierend auf der Geschwindigkeit und Masse des auftreffenden Objekts und dem Elastizitätsmodul des Stabs erfährt.

Die in dieser Analyse getroffenen Annahmen führen zu einem konservativen Ansatz bei der Konstruktion und stellen sicher, dass die Strukturen unerwarteten Kräften standhalten können. Dieser Ansatz führt häufig zu einer Überkonstruktion, bei der Sicherheitsfaktoren einbezogen werden, um Energieverluste und andere Dynamiken zu berücksichtigen, die vom theoretischen Modell nicht abgedeckt werden.

Impact loading on a fixed rod happens when a moving object strikes a stationary rod that has a uniform cross-sectional area and is fixed at one end. The impact makes the rod deform and begin to develop stress. This setup shows how a sudden hit can store energy in a structure.

As the rod moves back toward its original shape, the stress rises to a maximum. At that point, the energy from the moving object has changed from kinetic energy into strain energy. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, and strain energy is the energy stored during elastic deformation.

For elastic deformation, the rod returns to its original shape without permanent damage. In that ideal case, the strain energy at maximum deformation is equal to the kinetic energy of the striking object. This relationship assumes that no energy is lost as heat or through rebound, which is rarely true in real situations.

From this energy balance, the maximum stress in the rod can be derived using the mass and velocity of the moving object and the rod’s modulus of elasticity. The result gives engineers a conservative design approach. It can also lead to over-engineering, with safety factors added to account for energy losses and other effects not included in the model.
