Eine ideale Diode ist ein nichtlineares Schaltungselement mit der Anode als Pluspol und der Kathode als Minuspol.
Wenn eine negative Spannung angelegt wird, fließt kein Strom. Dies wird als Sperrvorspannung oder Abschaltung bezeichnet, bei der die Diode als offener Stromkreis fungiert.
Wird eine positive Spannung angelegt, verhält sich die Diode wie ein Kurzschluss ohne Spannungsabfall. Dieser Zustand wird als vorwärtsverzerrt oder aktiviert bezeichnet.
Die ideale Diode weist stückweise lineare I-V-Eigenschaften mit zwei geradlinigen Segmenten in einem Winkel von 90 Grad zueinander auf.
Im Gegensatz zu idealen Dioden weisen praktische Dioden einen geringen Spannungsabfall in Vorwärtsrichtung und einen Leckstrom in Sperrrichtung ungleich Null auf.
Die ideale Diode, die in Gleichrichterschaltungen verwendet wird, wandelt Wechselstrom in Gleichstrom um. Während der positiven Halbzyklen der Eingangssinuskurve leitet die Diode und die Ausgangsspannung entspricht der Eingangsspannung.
Bei negativen Halbzyklen leitet die Diode nicht, was zu einer Ausgangsspannung von Null führt.
Die gleichgerichtete Ausgangsspannung ist also unidirektional und hat einen endlichen Mittelwert oder einen Gleichstromanteil.

Das Verhalten einer idealen Diode wird durch stückweise lineare I-V-Kennlinien (Strom-Spannung) dargestellt, die aus zwei Abschnitten bestehen: einer vertikalen Linie, die den Stromfluss unter Vorwärtsvorspannung darstellt, und einer horizontalen Linie, die keinen Stromfluss im rückwärts vorgespannten Zustand anzeigt. Dieses Modell zeigt einen scharfen Übergang zwischen Leitungs- und Nichtleitungszuständen und eliminiert so die allmähliche Kurve in realen Dioden.

Während reale Dioden bei Durchlassspannung einen gewissen Spannungsabfall und bei Sperrspannung einen winzigen Leckstrom aufweisen, ignoriert das ideale Diodenmodell diese Aspekte, um die Schaltungsanalyse zu vereinfachen. Dieses Modell ist in Gleichrichterschaltungen von Bedeutung, die Wechselstrom in Gleichstrom umwandeln. Während positiver Wechselstromzyklen leitet die ideale Diode, wodurch die Ausgangsspannung gleich der Eingangsspannung ist. In negativen Zyklen blockiert sie den Strom, was zu einer Ausgangsspannung von Null führt. The Ideal Diode

An ideal diode is a simple model of a semiconductor diode used to show how current moves through circuits. A diode has two terminals. The anode is positive, and the cathode is negative. In this model, current can flow only in one direction.

When a positive voltage is applied to the anode relative to the cathode, the diode is forward-biased. In that state, it conducts current. When the cathode is at a higher potential than the anode, the diode is reverse-biased. It then blocks current and acts like an open switch.

The ideal diode is shown with a piecewise linear I-V curve, or current-voltage curve. One part is a vertical line that shows current flow during forward bias. The other part is a horizontal line that shows no current flow during reverse bias. This sharp change leaves out the gradual curve seen in real diodes. It also ignores the voltage drop in forward bias and the small leakage current in reverse bias.

This simplified model is useful for circuit analysis, especially in rectifier circuits that change AC into DC. During the positive part of an AC cycle, the ideal diode conducts and the output voltage matches the input. During the negative part, it blocks current and the output drops to zero. The result is a DC output that many electronic devices need for steady power.
