Ein Blockdiagramm veranschaulicht die Input-Output-Beziehungen in einem System. Ein Beispiel ist ein Heizsystem, bei dem die gewünschte Temperatur den Ofen dazu veranlasst, den Raum zu heizen.
Blockdiagramme können lineare Systeme mit Laplace-Transformationsvariablen und nichtlineare Systeme mit Zeitbereichsvariablen modellieren.
Diese umfassen in der Regel Elemente wie Komparatoren, Blöcke und Rückkopplungsschleifen, die durch eine oder mehrere Gleichungen modelliert werden.
Komparatoren fungieren als Verbindungspunkte für Signalvergleiche und führen einfache mathematische Operationen wie Addition und Subtraktion aus.
Blöcke bezeichnen die Gleichungen des Systems im Zeitbereich oder die Übertragungsfunktion im Laplace-Bereich. In den meisten Steuerungssystemen können diese Blöcke Elemente wie Anlagen, Steuerungen, Aktoren und Sensoren darstellen.
In einem Regelungssystem werden die Regelgröße und der Referenzeingang verglichen, wodurch ein Fehlersignal erzeugt wird. Dadurch wird ein Aktuator aktiviert, der den Fehler minimiert, während der Ausgangssensor das System überwacht und Signale zur Rückmeldung umwandelt.
Blockdiagramme zeigen Elemente von Regelungssystemen, die Reihen- oder Parallelschaltungen umfassen können. Die Übertragungsfunktion des Gesamtsystems wird durch die Kombination einzelner Blockgleichungen ermittelt.

In Steuerungssystemen symbolisieren diese Blöcke verschiedene Komponenten wie Anlagen, Regler, Aktuatoren und Sensoren. Im vorherigen Beispiel würde ein Komparator die eingestellte Temperatur mit der gemessenen Temperatur vergleichen und den Ofen je nach Bedarf ein- und ausschalten. In einem anderen Beispiel stellt eine Anlage den Hauptprozess oder das Hauptsystem dar, das gesteuert wird, während ein Regler die Eingabe an die Anlage basierend auf Rückmeldung anpasst. Aktuatoren wandeln Steuersignale in physische Aktionen um und Sensoren messen die Ausgabe und geben dem System Rückmeldung.

In einem Rückkopplungssystem wird die gesteuerte Variable kontinuierlich mit dem Referenzeingang verglichen, um ein Fehlersignal zu erzeugen. Dieses Fehlersignal aktiviert einen Aktuator, der den Fehler minimiert. Der Sensor im System wandelt den physischen Ausgang wieder in ein Signal um, das mit dem Referenzeingang verglichen werden kann. Die Rückkopplung kann entweder positiv oder negativ sein und die Stabilität und Reaktion des Systems beeinflussen.

Blockdiagramme können Elemente von Rückkopplungssystemen enthalten, die in Reihen- oder Parallelkonfigurationen angeordnet sind. Die Gesamtübertragungsfunktion des Systems wird durch die Kombination der einzelnen Übertragungsfunktionen der Blöcke bestimmt. Block diagrams show the input-output relationships in a system. They help students see how one signal affects another. A heating system is a simple example. The set temperature turns the furnace on, and the room warms to the desired level.

Block diagrams can model both linear and nonlinear systems. Linear systems often use Laplace transform variables. Nonlinear systems are usually described with time domain variables. This makes block diagrams useful for many kinds of control problems.

A block diagram usually includes comparators, blocks, and feedback loops. A comparator is a junction where signals are compared. It can add or subtract signals. In control systems, this comparison creates an error signal that leads to corrective action.

Blocks stand for the system equations. They may be shown in the time domain or as transfer functions in the frequency domain. In control systems, a block can represent a plant, controller, actuator, or sensor. The plant is the main process being controlled. The controller adjusts the input to the plant based on feedback. The actuator turns the control signal into a physical action, and the sensor measures the output.

In the heating example, the comparator compares the set temperature with the measured temperature. The furnace then cycles on and off as needed. In a feedback control system, the controlled variable is compared again and again with the reference input. This produces an error signal that drives the actuator and helps reduce the error. The sensor changes the physical output back into a signal for comparison.

Feedback can be positive or negative, and each one affects stability and response. Block diagrams may arrange feedback elements in series or in parallel. The overall transfer function comes from combining the transfer functions of each block. This algebra helps describe how the system behaves. Understanding the transfer function is important for checking performance and stability and for meeting design goals.
