Mechanische Rüttler werden eingesetzt, um frisch gelegten Beton in Formen und um die Bewehrung herum zu verdichten, um die eingeschlossene Luft auszustoßen und eine dichte Betonmasse zu bilden.
In der Regel wird ein Innenvibrator, wie z. B. ein Rüttler, schnell durch die gesamte Dicke des frisch verlegten Betons und teilweise in die darunter liegende Betonschicht getaucht, die in einem plastischen Zustand vorliegt. 
Die Vibrationen werden alle 2 bis 3 Fuß entlang der Betonoberfläche für eine Dauer von 5 Sekunden bis 2 Minuten bereitgestellt, abhängig von der Konsistenz des Betons.
Der Schürhaken wird nach und nach gezogen, um sicherzustellen, dass der Platz, den er im Beton eingenommen hat, auf natürliche Weise abdichtet. 
Im Gegensatz zu Innenrüttelwerken, die direkt auf den Beton wirken, sind Außenrüttler über eine elastische Stütze fest mit der Schalung verbunden, wodurch die gleichzeitige Schwingung von Schalung und Beton möglich ist.
Er wird für vorgefertigte oder dünne Ortbetonprofile verwendet und kann während des Betonierens Positionsanpassungen erfordern.
Alternativ kann ein Rütteltisch verwendet werden, um Betonfertigteile gleichmäßig zu schwingen, indem die Schalung an den Rüttler gespannt wird.

Je nach Konsistenz der Betonmischung werden gleichmäßige Vibrationen in Abständen von 0,6 bis 0,9 Metern über einen Zeitraum von 5 Sekunden bis 2 Minuten auf die Betonoberfläche ausgeübt. Wenn der Rüttler langsam zurückgezogen wird, wird das hinterlassene Loch auf natürliche Weise versiegelt, wodurch die Bildung von Hohlräumen verhindert wird.


 Bei einer anderen Methode werden Außenrüttler verwendet, die an der Schalung befestigt sind, um die Schalung und den Beton gleichzeitig zu vibrieren. Dies wird für vorgefertigte Elemente oder dünnere Betonabschnitte verwendet. Im Gegensatz zu Innenrüttlern, die den Beton direkt vibrieren, leisten Außenrüttler zusätzliche Arbeit, indem sie die Schalung vibrieren, was sie weniger effizient macht als Innenrüttler. Gelegentlich müssen Außenrüttler je nach Platzierung des Betons von Ort zu Ort verschoben werden. Für vorgefertigte Betoneinheiten wird ein Rütteltisch verwendet, bei dem die Schalung direkt auf der Plattform befestigt wird, um eine gleichmäßige Vibration in der gesamten Einheit zu erreichen.

Concrete compaction with vibrators helps newly poured concrete settle inside formwork and around reinforcement bars. The goal is to remove trapped air pockets and create a dense concrete mass. Mechanical vibration is a key part of that process.

One common method uses an internal vibrator, also called a poker vibrator or immersion vibrator. It is quickly inserted through the full depth of the fresh concrete and slightly into the layer below, which is still in a plastic state. The vibrator is applied across the surface at intervals of about 2 to 3 feet for 5 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on how stiff or fluid the mix is. As the tool is slowly pulled out, the hole closes on its own and helps prevent voids.

External vibrators are another option. These are attached to the formwork so the form and the concrete vibrate together. They are often used for precast elements or thinner concrete sections. Because they also vibrate the formwork, they do extra work and are less efficient than internal vibrators. In some cases, they must be moved from place to place as the concrete is placed.

For precast concrete units, a vibrating table can be used. In this setup, the formwork is fixed directly to the platform. The table provides a uniform vibration throughout the unit and helps compact the concrete evenly.
