Projectile Motion

Cuando un objeto se lanza con cierta velocidad inicial en un ángulo con respecto al suelo, se mueve en una trayectoria parabólica debido a la gravedad. El objeto se llama proyectil, y la trayectoria que sigue se llama trayectoria.
La distancia horizontal cubierta por el proyectil se denomina alcance, mientras que la altura máxima que alcanza el proyectil se conoce como el cenit de la trayectoria.
El movimiento del proyectil puede considerarse independiente a lo largo de las direcciones horizontal y vertical.
Suponiendo una resistencia del aire insignificante, la única fuerza que actúa sobre el proyectil se debe a la gravedad de la Tierra. Por lo tanto, la componente vertical de la aceleración es igual a menos g.
La componente horizontal de la aceleración es cero. Por lo tanto, el proyectil mantiene una velocidad horizontal constante.
La componente vertical de la velocidad, inicialmente disminuye, hasta que el proyectil alcanza el cenit, momento en el que se vuelve cero. Vuelve a aumentar a medida que el proyectil sigue la trayectoria descendente.
Sin embargo, la presencia de aire resiste el movimiento de un objeto, disminuyendo la velocidad horizontal. El alcance y el cenit del objeto son menores que el camino que seguiría en el vacío.

Un objeto lanzado al aire sigue una trayectoria parabólica bajo la influencia de la fuerza gravitacional de la Tierra. El movimiento de dicho objeto se llama movimiento de proyectil y el objeto en sí es un proyectil. La trayectoria parabólica seguida por el proyectil se llama trayectoria. Algunos ejemplos comunes de movimiento de proyectil son el lanzamiento de fuegos artificiales, una pelota de golf en el aire, los meteoritos ingresando a la atmósfera terrestre y el disparo de balas. Cuando un objeto cae bajo la gravedad y no tiene movimiento horizontal, se llama movimiento de proyectil unidimensional. Sin embargo, cuando hay movimiento horizontal y vertical, se llama movimiento de proyectil bidimensional. Los movimientos a lo largo de los dos ejes perpendiculares son independientes y, por lo tanto, se pueden analizar por separado. Por lo general, se descuida el efecto de la resistencia del aire al derivar las ecuaciones de movimiento de proyectil bidimensional. Al analizar el movimiento de proyectil bidimensional, se considera que el origen es el punto desde donde se lanza el proyectil. Projectile motion describes the path of an object thrown into the air under Earth’s gravity. The object is called a projectile, and its curved path is called the trajectory. This motion appears in many real situations, such as fireworks, a golf ball in flight, meteors entering Earth’s atmosphere, and bullets being fired.

When a falling object has no horizontal movement, it is described as one-dimensional projectile motion. When motion includes both horizontal and vertical parts, it is two-dimensional projectile motion. The two perpendicular directions are independent, so they can be studied separately.

Air resistance is generally neglected when deriving two-dimensional projectile motion equations. For analysis, the origin is usually placed at the launch point. Because gravity always acts downward, the horizontal acceleration stays zero throughout the path, while the vertical velocity becomes zero at the highest point. This axis choice makes projectile motion easier to solve and is widely used.
