Algunas funciones están limitadas entre otras dos funciones, que determinan su valor límite.El teorema de compresión se aplica cuando una función permanece acotada entre otras dos funciones en un intervalo, generalmente denotado por I, cerca de un punto, y ambas funciones delimitadoras se acercan al mismo valor. Dentro de ese intervalo, la función restringida entre ellos también debe compartir ese límite.Esto crea una vía de estrechamiento, manteniendo la curva interna atrapada entre las otras dos funciones cerca de un punto específico.Considere la función x² por el coseno de 20πx.A medida que x se acerca a cero, la función converge a cero.Dado que el coseno siempre está acotado entre -1 y 1, multiplicar por x² hace que el producto oscile dentro de las envolventes –x² y x², independientemente de su frecuencia.Como resultado, toda la función permanece entre dos funciones delimitadoras: –x² y x².Ambas funciones delimitadoras se acercan a cero cuando x se acerca a cero, por lo que la función intermedia también se acerca a cero, según lo definido por el teorema de compresión.Este teorema también aparece en el software de ingeniería, donde las estimaciones de tensión están limitadas entre los límites superior e inferior. Seg&#250;n el teorema del Sandwich, si una funci&#243;n est&#225; acotada entre otras dos funciones en un entorno de un punto y ambas funciones acotantes se aproximan al mismo l&#237;mite cuando la variable se acerca a dicho punto, entonces la funci&#243;n intermedia tambi&#233;n debe aproximarse a ese l&#237;mite. El comportamiento convergente de las funciones acotantes estrecha el intervalo en el que puede situarse la funci&#243;n intermedia, forz&#225;ndola hacia el mismo l&#237;mite.
La condici&#243;n clave para aplicar el teorema es que la funci&#243;n en cuesti&#243;n permanezca siempre mayor o igual que una cota inferior y menor o igual que una cota superior en un entorno del punto considerado. Si ambas cotas tienden al mismo valor, se concluye que la funci&#243;n intermedia comparte ese comportamiento l&#237;mite, independientemente de su complejidad interna. Este principio resulta especialmente &#250;til cuando la funci&#243;n no es f&#225;cilmente tratable mediante t&#233;cnicas convencionales debido a su comportamiento err&#225;tico.

Using bounds to find a limit is the main idea behind the Squeeze Theorem. It helps when a function changes in a way that makes direct limit evaluation difficult. Some functions may oscillate quickly or follow irregular patterns near a specific input value.

The theorem works by placing the function between two other functions near that point. The function must stay greater than or equal to a lower bound and less than or equal to an upper bound. If both outer functions approach the same limit as the input gets closer to the point, the function in the middle must approach that same limit too.

This converging behavior narrows the range of possible values for the trapped function. As the boundaries move toward the same number, the intermediate function is forced toward that number as well. The Squeeze Theorem is especially useful for limits that are hard to approach with standard methods because the function behaves erratically.
