Projectile Motion

Lorsqu’un objet est lancé avec une certaine vitesse initiale à un angle par rapport au sol, il se déplace sur une trajectoire parabolique en raison de la gravité. L’objet s’appelle le projectile, et la trajectoire qu’il suit s’appelle la trajectoire.
La distance horizontale parcourue par le projectile est appelée portée, tandis que la hauteur maximale atteinte par le projectile est connue sous le nom de zénith de la trajectoire.
Le mouvement du projectile peut être considéré comme indépendant le long des directions horizontale et verticale.
En supposant une résistance de l'air négligeable, la seule force agissant sur le projectile est due à la gravité terrestre. Ainsi, la composante verticale de l’accélération est égale à moins g.
La composante horizontale de l’accélération est nulle. Ainsi, le projectile maintient une vitesse horizontale constante.
La composante verticale de la vitesse diminue d’abord jusqu’à ce que le projectile atteigne le zénith, auquel cas il devient zéro. Il augmente à nouveau à mesure que le projectile suit la trajectoire descendante.
Cependant, la présence d'air résiste au mouvement d'un objet, diminuant la vitesse horizontale. La portée et le zénith de l'objet sont inférieurs à la trajectoire qu'il suivrait dans le vide.

Un objet lancé dans les airs suit un trajet parabolique sous l'influence de la force gravitationnelle de la Terre. Le mouvement d'un tel objet est appelé mouvement de projectile, et l'objet lui-même est un projectile. Le trajet parabolique suivi par le projectile est appelé trajectoire. Quelques exemples courants de mouvement de projectile sont le lancement de feux d'artifice, une balle de golf dans les airs, les météores entrant dans l'atmosphère terrestre et les tirs de balles.

Lorsqu'un objet tombe sous l'effet de la gravité et n'a aucun mouvement horizontal, on parle de mouvement de projectile unidimensionnel. Cependant, lorsque le mouvement est à la fois horizontal et vertical, on parle de mouvement de projectile bidimensionnel. Les mouvements le long des deux axes perpendiculaires sont indépendants et peuvent donc être analysés séparément. Généralement, on néglige l'effet de la résistance de l'air lors de la dérivation des équations de mouvement de projectile bidimensionnel.

Lors de l'analyse du mouvement de projectile bidimensionnel, l'origine est considérée comme le point où le projectile est lancé. Étant donné que l'accélération due à la gravité agit toujours vers le bas, la composante horizontale de l'accélération du projectile est toujours nulle pendant toute la trajectoire. De même, la composante verticale de la vélocité devient nulle lorsque le projectile atteint la hauteur maximale. Par conséquent, pour résoudre les équations de mouvement de projectile, ce choix d'axes devient très pratique et est largement utilisé.

Projectile motion describes the path of an object thrown into the air under Earth’s gravity. The object is called a projectile, and its curved path is called the trajectory. This motion appears in many real situations, such as fireworks, a golf ball in flight, meteors entering Earth’s atmosphere, and bullets being fired.

When a falling object has no horizontal movement, it is described as one-dimensional projectile motion. When motion includes both horizontal and vertical parts, it is two-dimensional projectile motion. The two perpendicular directions are independent, so they can be studied separately.

Air resistance is generally neglected when deriving two-dimensional projectile motion equations. For analysis, the origin is usually placed at the launch point. Because gravity always acts downward, the horizontal acceleration stays zero throughout the path, while the vertical velocity becomes zero at the highest point. This axis choice makes projectile motion easier to solve and is widely used.
