Work Done by Gravity

Lorsqu’un objet est projeté vers le haut, la force gravitationnelle agit contre son déplacement.
Ainsi, le travail effectué par la force gravitationnelle est le produit scalaire de la force gravitationnelle et des vecteurs de déplacement.
Comme ces vecteurs pointent dans des directions opposées, le travail effectué est négatif.
La force gravitationnelle agit sur l'objet en transformant l'énergie cinétique de l'objet en énergie potentielle.
Après avoir atteint la hauteur maximale, l’objet retombe. La force gravitationnelle agit dans la direction du déplacement, et le travail effectué est positif.
Supposons qu’un objet soit soulevé, la force appliquée et la force gravitationnelle agissent sur l’objet.
Le travail net effectué sur l’objet est donné par le théorème travail-énergie.
Si l’objet est stationnaire avant et après une levée, la variation nette de l’énergie cinétique est nulle.
Ainsi, le travail effectué par la force appliquée est négatif du travail effectué par la force gravitationnelle.

La gravitation est l'une des quatre forces fondamentales de la nature. La force entre les objets sur Terre et la Terre elle-même est appelée gravité.

Comme d'autres forces, la gravité effectue un travail sur un objet s'il est déplacé vers le centre de la Terre. Dans ce cas, le travail effectué par la gravité est dit être positif. Si une force externe agit sur l'objet contre la force de gravité et parvient à le soulever loin du centre de la Terre, un travail est effectué contre la gravité. Dans ce cas, le travail net effectué est dit être négatif. Si un objet se déplace le long de la Terre sans se rapprocher ou s'éloigner du centre de la Terre, alors aucun travail n'est effectué par ou contre la gravité.

Bien sûr, aucun objet sur Terre n'est une particule. Le cadre du centre de masse développé dans l'étude des objets composites contourne ce problème. Une seule particule de masse égale à la masse totale de l'objet peut être considérée présente au centre de masse de l'objet avant de prendre en compte l'effet des forces externes, y compris la gravité.

Gravity is one of the four fundamental forces in nature. On Earth, the force between an object and Earth is called gravity. Gravity does work on an object when it moves the object toward Earth’s center. In that case, the work done by gravity is positive.

When an external force lifts an object away from Earth’s center, that force works against gravity. The net work done in this case is negative. If an object moves along the Earth with no change in distance toward or away from Earth’s center, then gravity does no work on it.

Real objects are not particles, so physics often uses the center of mass framework for composite objects. This method treats the whole object as a single particle with the same total mass located at its center of mass. It makes it easier to analyze external forces, including gravity.

Work-Energy Along Curved Paths

The work-energy theorem can be applied to motion along a curved path. A curved path can be treated as many tiny straight paths added together. On each small part, the force can be taken as constant, so the work-energy theorem can be used there. The total result comes from adding the work done along all of those small path segments.
