Considérons le modèle de circuit équivalent d’un amplificateur opérationnel. La section de sortie se compose d’une source contrôlée en tension en série avec la résistance de sortie.
Dans la section d’entrée, v1 et v2 désignent respectivement les tensions entre les bornes inverseuses et non inverseuses et la terre.
La tension de sortie d’un amplificateur opérationnel est égale au produit de la différence de tension d’entrée et du gain en boucle ouverte.
Pour les petites différences de tension, l’amplificateur opérationnel se comporte de manière linéaire. Si la tension dépasse la tension d’alimentation, l’ampli-op sature.
La combinaison de la tension appliquée et de la rétroaction négative garantit que l’amplificateur opérationnel fonctionne dans sa plage linéaire.
Les amplificateurs modernes ont des gains et une résistance d’entrée importants, ce qui leur permet d’être approximés comme des amplis opérationnels idéaux.
Un ampli opérationnel idéal a un gain en boucle ouverte infini, une résistance d’entrée infinie et une résistance de sortie nulle. Les courants de borne d’entrée et la tension de décalage d’entrée sont nuls dans un ampli opérationnel idéal.
De plus, il dispose d’une bande passante infinie, ce qui lui permet d’amplifier les signaux de n’importe quelle fréquence, et d’une vitesse de balayage infinie, ce qui signifie sa capacité à changer rapidement la tension de sortie au fil du temps.

L'amplificateur opérationnel, communément appelé ampli-op, est un composant de circuit électronique spécialement conçu. Son objectif est de travailler en conjonction avec d'autres éléments du circuit pour exécuter une opération de traitement du signal définie. Considérons un modèle de circuit équivalent d'un ampli opérationnel, comme illustré à la figure 1 ; la section de sortie comprend une source commandée en tension en parallèle avec la résistance de sortie Ro. <img alt="Figure1" src="/files/ftp_upload/15077/15077_PT_Figure_1.svg" style="text-align: center; height: 166px;"> Figure 1: Le circuit équivalent de l'ampli opérationnel non idéal La figure 1 montre que la résistance d'entrée Ri équivaut à la résistance équivalente de Thėvenin observable aux bornes d'entrée. De même, la résistance de sortie Ro correspond à la résistance équivalente Thėvenin perceptible en sortie. La tension d'entrée différentielle (vd) est calculée comme la différence entre la tension de la borne non inverseuse par rapport à la terre et la tension de la borne inverseuse par rapport à la terre. L'ampli opérationnel discerne la différence entre ces deux entrées et l'amplifie par le gain A, générant ainsi une tension qui apparaît en sortie. Ici, A représente le gain de tension en boucle ouverte - nommé ainsi car il signifie le gain de l'ampli-op en l'absence de tout retour externe de la sortie vers l'entrée. La rétroaction est un concept intégral à comprendre lors de l’étude des circuits d’amplis opérationnels. Un retour négatif peut être obtenu en renvoyant la sortie à la borne inverseuse de l'ampli-op. Lorsqu'il existe un chemin de rétroaction de la sortie à l'entrée, le rapport résultant entre la tension de sortie et la tension d'entrée est appelé gain en boucle fermée. L'ampli-op a ses limites pratiques. L'une de ces limitations est que l'amplitude de sa tension de sortie ne peut pas dépasser |VCC|. Essentiellement, la tension d’alimentation détermine et limite la tension de sortie. En fonction de la tension d'entrée différentielle, l'ampli-op peut fonctionner dans l'un des trois modes suivants : saturation positive, région linéaire ou saturation négative. Si l'on tente d'augmenter vd au-delà de la plage linéaire, l'ampli-op atteint la saturation, donnant soit vo = VCC, soit vo = -VCC.

An operational amplifier, or op-amp, is an electronic circuit component used with other circuit parts to carry out a signal-processing task. It is often described with an equivalent circuit model. In that model, the output section includes a voltage-controlled source in parallel with the output resistance, R o.

The model also shows the input resistance, R i, which is the Thevenin equivalent resistance seen at the input terminals. The differential input voltage, v d, is the difference between the noninverting terminal voltage and the inverting terminal voltage, both measured relative to ground. The op-amp compares these two input voltages and amplifies the difference by the gain A to produce an output voltage.

A is called the open-loop voltage gain because it describes the op-amp without feedback from the output back to the input. Feedback is important in op-amp circuits. Negative feedback is created by connecting the output to the inverting terminal. When that feedback path exists, the output-to-input ratio is the closed-loop gain.

Op-amps also have practical limits. Their output voltage cannot exceed the magnitude of the supply voltage, |VCC|. The power supply sets this limit. Depending on the differential input voltage, the op-amp can operate in positive saturation, the linear region, or negative saturation. If v d is pushed beyond the linear range, the output saturates at either v o = VCC or v o = -VCC.
