Lorsqu’une particule se déplace le long d’une trajectoire courbe, son mouvement peut être décrit à l’aide de composantes tangentielles et normales. Les deux composants sont attachés à la particule et se déplacent avec elle.
Pour l’axe n, la trajectoire courbe de la particule est divisée en plusieurs segments d’arc différents. Chaque segment forme l’arc d’un cercle ayant un rayon de courbure et un centre de courbure.
L’axe n est normal à l’axe t, et son sens positif pointe vers le centre de la courbure, défini par le vecteur unitaire un.
Le positif de l’axe t est défini le long de la position croissante de la particule sur la trajectoire, et il est noté à l’aide d’un vecteur unitaire, ut.
La vitesse de la particule est toujours tangente à la trajectoire du mouvement curviligne et n'a qu'une composante t.
La différenciation de l’expression de la vitesse avec le temps donne l’accélération de la particule. Ici, ut change à chaque instant, et son changement dénote la direction de un.
Cela signifie que pour le mouvement curviligne, l’accélération de la particule a à la fois des composantes tangentielles et normales

Lorsqu'une voiture traverse une route courbe, son mouvement peut être expliqué en le décomposant en composants tangentiels et normaux. Les coordonnées centrées sur la voiture se déplacent avec lui.

La direction positive de l'axe t s'aligne avec la position croissante de la voiture le long de la trajectoire courbe, indiquée par le vecteur unitaire u_t. En revanche, la composante normale est liée à la courbure de la route. L'axe n, perpendiculaire à l'axe t, participe à la dissection du chemin courbe en petites segments d'arc différentiels. La direction positive de l'axe n pointe vers le centre de cette courbure et est définie par le vecteur unitaire u_n. Ce composant permet de décrire comment la voiture s'écarte d'une trajectoire en ligne droite en raison de la courbure de la route.

La vitesse de la voiture reste tangente à la route, ne possédant qu'une composante en t. En différenciant l'expression de la vitesse par rapport au temps, on obtient l'accélération de la voiture. Il est important de noter que u_t subit des changements à chaque instant, indiquant les changements dans la direction d’u_n.

Essentiellement, pour un mouvement curviligne, l'accélération de la voiture se manifeste à la fois dans des composantes tangentielles et normales, offrant ainsi une compréhension globale de la façon dont le véhicule se déplace le long de la trajectoire courbe.

Curved path motion is described with tangential and normal axes. These car-centered coordinates move with the vehicle as it travels. The t-axis points in the direction of increasing position along the curved path. The n-axis is perpendicular to the t-axis and points toward the center of curvature.

The path can be split into tiny arc segments. Each segment matches part of a circle with a radius of curvature and a center of curvature. The positive n-direction uses the unit vector u n . This normal component shows how the car departs from a straight-line path because of the road’s curvature.

The car’s velocity stays tangent to the road. That means it has only a t-component. When velocity is differentiated with respect to time, the car’s acceleration is found. Because the unit vector u t changes with time, the direction of u n also changes.

As a result, curvilinear motion has both tangential and normal components of acceleration. Together, these components give a fuller picture of how a car moves along a curved trajectory.
