Déterminez les réactions aux points A et C. Déterminez également la déflexion au point B.
Ici, la structure en bâtonnets est considérée statiquement indéterminée car elle a plus de supports que nécessaire pour la condition d’équilibre, ce qui conduit à un excès de réactions inconnues sur les équations d’équilibre.
Ainsi, la réaction au point C est considérée comme redondante et libérée du support. Il est traité comme une charge supplémentaire.
Ensuite, à l’aide de la méthode de superposition, la déformation dans chaque section de la structure de la tige est déterminée et combinée pour déterminer la déformation totale.
 Si l’on considère l’expression de la déformation totale, la déformation totale de la structure de la barre égale à zéro et la somme de toutes les charges égale à zéro, les forces de réaction inconnues sont déterminées.
La déflexion au point B est calculée en additionnant les déformations des sections avant le point B dans la structure de la barre.

Il reste maintenant à déterminer les réactions aux points A et C et la déflexion au point B. Cette structure en barres est classée comme statiquement indéterminée car elle comporte plus de supports que nécessaires au maintien de l'équilibre, ce qui conduit à un excédent de réactions inconnues par rapport aux équations d'équilibre disponibles.

L'indétermination statique est résolue en considérant la réaction au point C comme redondante et en la libérant de son support. Cette réaction redondante est traitée comme une charge supplémentaire. La méthode de superposition est ensuite déployée pour déterminer la déformation dans chaque section de la structure de la tige. Axial rod reactions with a redundant support are found by combining equilibrium with deformation. The structure here uses two cylindrical rods, one steel and one brass, joined at point B and held by rigid supports at points A and C. The goal is to determine the reactions at A and C and the deflection at B.

This setup is statically indeterminate because the supports create more unknown reactions than the equilibrium equations can solve. Statics alone is not enough to find every internal force or support reaction. To handle this, the reaction at point C is treated as a redundant reaction, meaning it is released from its support and used as an added load.

The superposition method is then used to find the deformation in each section of the rod structure. These separate deformations are combined to form the total deformation expression for the full rod system. When the total deformation is set equal to zero, and the sum of the loads is also zero, the unknown reaction forces can be determined.

After the reactions are found, the deflection at point B is calculated by adding the deformations in the sections of the rod structure before point B. This approach shows how compatibility of deformation helps solve a problem that equilibrium alone cannot complete.
