Les vibrateurs mécaniques sont utilisés pour compacter le béton fraîchement placé dans les coffrages et autour de l’armature afin d’expulser l’air emprisonné et de former une masse de béton dense.
Généralement, un vibrateur interne, tel qu’un vibrateur de poker, est plongé rapidement à travers toute l’épaisseur du béton fraîchement placé et partiellement dans la couche sous-jacente de béton existant à l’état plastique. 
Des vibrations sont fournies tous les 2 à 3 pieds le long de la surface du béton pour des durées allant de 5 secondes à 2 minutes, selon la consistance du béton.
Le tisonnier est progressivement tiré pour s’assurer que l’espace qu’il occupait dans le béton scelle naturellement. 
Contrairement aux vibrateurs internes qui travaillent directement sur le béton, les vibrateurs externes sont solidement fixés au coffrage via un support élastique, permettant de vibrations simultanées du coffrage et du béton.
Il est utilisé pour les sections préfabriquées ou minces in situ et peut nécessiter des ajustements de position lors du coulage du béton.
Alternativement, une table vibrante peut être utilisée pour fournir des vibrations uniformes aux unités de béton préfabriqué en fixant le coffrage au vibrateur.

Les vibrateurs mécaniques sont indispensables pour compacter le béton fraîchement coulé dans les coffrages et autour des armatures. Ce processus est essentiel pour éliminer les poches d'air emprisonnées et établir une masse de béton dense. Une méthode largement utilisée est la vibration par vibrateurs internes, souvent appelés vibrateurs à aiguille ou vibrateurs à immersion. Ils sont rapidement insérés dans toute la profondeur du béton fraîchement posé et s'étendent légèrement dans la couche en dessous (qui reste dans un état plastique). Des vibrations constantes sont appliquées sur la surface du béton à des intervalles de 60 à 90 centimètres pendant une période de 5 secondes à 2 minutes, selon la consistance du mélange de béton. Au fur et à mesure que le vibrateur est retiré, le trou laissé derrière est naturellement scellé, empêchant la formation de vides.


 Une autre méthode consiste à utiliser des vibrateurs externes fixés au coffrage pour faire vibrer simultanément le coffrage et le béton. Cette méthode est utilisée pour les éléments préfabriqués ou les sections de béton plus fines. Contrairement aux vibrateurs internes qui font vibrer directement le béton, les vibrateurs externes effectuent un travail supplémentaire en faisant vibrer le coffrage, ce qui les rend moins efficaces que les vibrateurs internes. Parfois, les vibrateurs externes doivent être déplacés d'un endroit à un autre en fonction de la mise en place du béton. Pour les éléments préfabriqués en béton, on utilise une table vibrante sur laquelle le coffrage est fixé directement sur la plate-forme pour obtenir une vibration uniforme dans toute l'unité.

Concrete compaction with vibrators helps newly poured concrete settle inside formwork and around reinforcement bars. The goal is to remove trapped air pockets and create a dense concrete mass. Mechanical vibration is a key part of that process.

One common method uses an internal vibrator, also called a poker vibrator or immersion vibrator. It is quickly inserted through the full depth of the fresh concrete and slightly into the layer below, which is still in a plastic state. The vibrator is applied across the surface at intervals of about 2 to 3 feet for 5 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on how stiff or fluid the mix is. As the tool is slowly pulled out, the hole closes on its own and helps prevent voids.

External vibrators are another option. These are attached to the formwork so the form and the concrete vibrate together. They are often used for precast elements or thinner concrete sections. Because they also vibrate the formwork, they do extra work and are less efficient than internal vibrators. In some cases, they must be moved from place to place as the concrete is placed.

For precast concrete units, a vibrating table can be used. In this setup, the formwork is fixed directly to the platform. The table provides a uniform vibration throughout the unit and helps compact the concrete evenly.
