Average and Instantaneous Velocity Vectors

La velocità media è data come il rapporto tra lo spostamento e l'intervallo di tempo durante tale spostamento. In uno spazio bidimensionale, il vettore di spostamento, Δr, rappresenta il cambiamento di posizione.
Se si considera la velocità in un dato momento, il tempo trascorso si avvicina allo zero. Ora, il limite della velocità media si avvicina alla velocità istantanea ed è uguale alla derivata del vettore posizione rispetto al tempo.
La direzione del vettore velocità istantanea in qualsiasi punto è sempre lungo una linea tangente al percorso in quel punto.
Le componenti della velocità in uno spazio bidimensionale sono le derivate temporali delle coordinate x e y. Pertanto, il vettore velocità istantanea è la somma che coinvolge due vettori unitari.
Quando si descrive un movimento tridimensionale, è coinvolto anche l'asse z e il vettore velocità è rappresentato utilizzando tre vettori unitari.
Nel vettore velocità istantanea, la magnitudine rappresenta la velocità dell'oggetto.

Nella cinematica per calcolare altre grandezze fisiche, dev'essere introdotto il tempo variabile. Il tempo variabile non solo ci consente di indicare dov'è un oggetto (la sua posizione) durante il movimento, ma ci permette anche di sapere quanto velocemente si sta muovendo. La velocità a cui si muove un oggetto è data dalla velocità con cui cambia posizione nel tempo. A ogni posizione, viene assegnato un certo tempo. Se i dettagli del movimento ad ogni istante non sono importanti, la velocità è normalmente espressa come velocità media v. Questo vettore di velocità è semplicemente lo spostamento totale tra due punti diviso il tempo impiegato per percorrerne la distanza, detto anche tempo trascorso.

Comunque, visto che gli oggetti nel mondo reale si muovono continuamente attraverso lo spazio e il tempo, la velocità di un oggetto a ogni singolo punto è un parametro importante. La grandezza che ci dice quanto velocemente un oggetto si muove lungo il percorso è nota come velocità istantanea, chiamata spesso semplicemente velocità. La velocità media tra due punti in un percorso, nel limite in cui il tempo (e quindi lo spostamento) tra i due punti si avvicina a zero. Come la velocità media, la velocità istantanea è un vettore con una dimensione di lunghezza per il tempo.

Position change and instant velocity are key ideas in kinematics. To describe motion, time must be included. Time tells us where an object is and how fast it is moving.

The speed of an object comes from how its position changes with time. Each position is tied to a specific time. When the details of motion at each instant are not important, the rate is given as average velocity. Average velocity is a vector. It equals the total displacement between two points divided by the elapsed time.

Real objects move continuously through space and time. Because of that, velocity at a single point along the path is also important. This is called instantaneous velocity, and it is often just called velocity. It is the average velocity between two points in the limit where the time interval, and therefore the displacement, approaches zero. Like average velocity, instantaneous velocity is a vector with units of length per time.
