Work

Si dice che il lavoro viene svolto quando l'energia viene trasferita da un'entità all'altra attraverso l'applicazione della forza. Ad esempio, quando una forza F viene applicata su una scatola e si muove attraverso uno spostamento ds, il lavoro viene svolto contro la forza di attrito.
L'incremento del lavoro svolto durante il processo è uguale al prodotto scalare dei vettori forza e spostamento.
Solo la componente di forza applicata parallelamente allo spostamento dell'oggetto contribuisce al lavoro svolto.
Quando un oggetto viene spostato dalla posizione A a quella B, il lavoro totale svolto dalla forza è l'integrale della forza rispetto allo spostamento lungo il percorso dello spostamento.
Per una forza che è costante sia in grandezza che in direzione, l'integrale dipende solo dai punti finali, e quindi il lavoro svolto è indipendente dal percorso intrapreso.
Quando una forza variabile agisce su un oggetto, come l'espansione o la compressione di una molla, la forza della molla è espressa in funzione della distanza. Il lavoro svolto dalla forza elastica lungo lo spostamento dalla posizione iniziale alla posizione finale è dato da questa equazione, dove k è la costante elastica.

Si parla di lavoro quando l'energia viene trasferita da un oggetto ad un altro. In altre parole, il lavoro avviene quando le forze agiscono su qualcosa che subisce uno spostamento da una posizione ad un'altra. Le forze possono variare in funzione della posizione, e dello spostamento che può avvenire lungo vari percorsi tra due punti. L'aumento di lavoro (dW) fatto da una forza che agisce attraverso uno spostamento infinitesimale può essere definito come il prodotto scalare della forza (<img alt="Image1" src="/files/ftp_upload/12663/12663img01.png" />) e dello spostamento (<img alt="Image1" src="/files/ftp_upload/12663/12663img02.png" />) dei vettori.

Il prodotto scalare può essere espresso in termini di grandezza dei vettori e del coseno dell'angolo tra essi, in quanto è più facile definire il prodotto scalare in parole come l'espressione di grandezze e angoli. Esso può essere espresso anche in termini di vari componenti, come spiegato nella lezione sui vettori.

Dalle proprietà dei vettoriali, sappiamo che non è importante prendere le componenti della forza parallela allo spostamento, o le componenti dello spostamento parallelo alla forza; il risultato sarà lo stesso in entrambi i casi. Work in physics connects force, motion, and energy transfer. Work is done when a force acts on an object and that object moves from one position to another. If there is no displacement, no work is done, even if a force is present.

The amount of work depends on the force and the direction of motion. For a very small displacement, the work done is written as the dot product of force and displacement vectors. That means work depends on the size of the vectors and the angle between them. You can also describe it using vector components, and it gives the same result whether you use the force component along the displacement or the displacement component along the force.

Work is measured in units of force times distance. In the SI system, that unit is the newton-meter, or N·m. In the English system, it is the foot-pound, or ft·lb.

The easiest case is a force that stays constant in both size and direction. In more general situations, the force can change from place to place, and the path between two points can be curved. Then the work is found by adding the tiny work done over each small part of the path. The force components and the path equation both matter in those cases, but the main idea stays the same: break the motion into small steps and add the work from each one.
