Power Expended by a Constant Force

La potenza è la velocità con cui viene svolto il lavoro. La formula per la potenza può essere riorganizzata per ottenere il lavoro svolto se la potenza erogata durante un processo è nota.
Se la potenza di uscita cambia in funzione del tempo, il lavoro svolto è l'integrale della potenza durante quel periodo di tempo e quindi l'area sotto la curva fornisce il valore del lavoro svolto.
Quando una forza costante viene applicata su un oggetto, la potenza dell'oggetto può essere espressa in termini di forza che agisce su di esso e dello spostamento coperto dall'oggetto. Qui, la derivata dello spostamento con il tempo è la velocità. Pertanto, la potenza può anche essere rappresentata come il prodotto della forza e della velocità.
Dall'equazione, la potenza può essere positiva, negativa o zero a seconda dell'angolo tra la forza e il vettore velocità.

Power describes how fast work is done. In physics, two sprinters can cross the finish line with the same velocity and do the same amount of work, but the one who finishes first has greater power because the work takes less time.

Average power is the work done during a time interval divided by that time interval. When the time interval becomes very small, this becomes instantaneous power. That gives the power at a specific moment instead of over a longer stretch of time.

Power can also be written in terms of force and motion. If a force F acts on a body and the body moves a small distance ds in a time dt, the power expended by the force can be written using the body's velocity v. This relationship follows from the way work and time change for a real moving body.

The work-energy theorem can be applied to motion along a curved path. A curved path can be treated as many tiny straight paths added together. On each small part, the force can be taken as constant, so the work-energy theorem can be used there. The total result comes from adding the work done along all of those small path segments.
