Work Done by Gravity

Quando un oggetto viene lanciato verso l'alto, la forza gravitazionale agisce contro il suo spostamento.
Quindi, il lavoro svolto dalla forza gravitazionale è il prodotto scalare della forza gravitazionale e dei vettori di spostamento.

Se l'oggetto è fermo prima e dopo un sollevamento, la variazione netta dell'energia cinetica è zero.
Quindi, il lavoro svolto dalla forza applicata è negativo rispetto al lavoro svolto dalla forza gravitazionale.

La gravità è una delle quattro forze fondamentali della natura. La forza tra gli oggetti sulla Terra e la Terra stessa è chiamata gravità.

Come altre forze, la gravità compie lavoro su un oggetto se lo sposta verso il centro della Terra. In questo caso, il lavoro compiuto dalla gravità è detto essere positivo. Se una forza esterna agisce sull'oggetto contro l'attrazione gravitazionale e riesce a sollevarlo dal centro della Terra, si compie lavoro contro la gravità. In questo caso, il lavoro netto compiuto è detto essere negativo. Se un oggetto si muove lungo la Terra e non ha spostamenti verso o lontano dal centro della Terra, allora nessun lavoro è compiuto dalla gravità o contro di essa.

Naturalmente, nessun oggetto sulla Terra è una particella. Il quadro del centro di massa sviluppato nello studio degli oggetti composti supera questo problema. Una singola particella di massa uguale alla massa totale dell'oggetto può essere considerata presente al centro di massa dell'oggetto prima di considerare gli effetti delle forze esterne, inclusa la gravità.

Gravity is one of the four fundamental forces in nature. On Earth, the force between an object and Earth is called gravity. Gravity does work on an object when it moves the object toward Earth’s center. In that case, the work done by gravity is positive.

When an external force lifts an object away from Earth’s center, that force works against gravity. The net work done in this case is negative. If an object moves along the Earth with no change in distance toward or away from Earth’s center, then gravity does no work on it.

Real objects are not particles, so physics often uses the center of mass framework for composite objects. This method treats the whole object as a single particle with the same total mass located at its center of mass. It makes it easier to analyze external forces, including gravity.

Work-Energy Along Curved Paths

The work-energy theorem can be applied to motion along a curved path. A curved path can be treated as many tiny straight paths added together. On each small part, the force can be taken as constant, so the work-energy theorem can be used there. The total result comes from adding the work done along all of those small path segments.
