Un nodo collega due o più rami ed è rappresentato da un punto. Se un cortocircuito collega due o più nodi, questi costituiscono un unico nodo.
Un ciclo è un percorso chiuso che attraversa più nodi senza attraversare alcun nodo due volte. Se il ciclo ha almeno un ramo non condiviso con altri cicli, è indipendente.
Una mesh è un tipo di loop che non contiene altri loop al suo interno.
Una rete contenente b rami, n nodi e l loop indipendenti soddisfa il teorema fondamentale della topologia di rete.

Una rete elettrica è un sistema composto da elementi interconnessi, come resistori, condensatori, induttori e sorgenti di tensione o corrente. A differenza di un circuito, una rete elettrica non forma necessariamente un percorso chiuso. In altre parole, mentre tutti i circuiti possono essere considerati reti per la loro natura interconnessa, non tutte le reti si qualificano come circuiti.

Un circuito, invece, è anch'esso un sistema interconnesso di elementi elettrici ma deve contenere uno o più percorsi chiusi. Questi percorsi chiusi, o anelli, consentono alla corrente di fluire continuamente, rendendo possibile il funzionamento del circuito.

La struttura di un circuito può essere ulteriormente suddivisa in diversi componenti chiave: rami, nodi, anelli e maglie. Comprendere questi componenti è fondamentale per analizzare e progettare circuiti.

Un ramo rappresenta un singolo elemento del circuito, come un resistore, una sorgente di tensione o una sorgente di corrente, collegato da due terminali. Ad esempio, un circuito che include una sorgente di tensione, una sorgente di corrente e due resistori sarebbe costituito da quattro rami.

I nodi sono punti del circuito dove due o più rami si intersecano. Sono generalmente rappresentati da un punto negli schemi elettrici. Se un cortocircuito collega più nodi insieme, diventano effettivamente un unico nodo.

Un anello in un circuito è un percorso chiuso che passa attraverso diversi nodi senza attraversare alcun nodo due volte. I cicli possono essere indipendenti o dipendenti. Un ciclo indipendente ha almeno un ramo che non è condiviso con nessun altro ciclo.

Una mesh, invece, è un tipo speciale di loop. È un percorso chiuso che non contiene altri anelli al suo interno. Le mesh sono fondamentali per alcuni tipi di analisi dei circuiti, come l'analisi delle mesh, che risolve sistematicamente i valori correnti.

Circuit parts like branches, nodes, loops, and meshes help describe how electrical networks work. An electrical network is a system of connected elements, such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, and voltage or current sources. Unlike a circuit, a network does not have to form a closed path.

A circuit is also made of connected electrical elements, but it must include one or more closed paths. These loops let current flow continuously, which is what makes the circuit operate. Because of this, every circuit is a network, but not every network is a circuit.

A branch is one element of a circuit with two terminals. A resistor, a voltage source, or a current source can each count as a branch. For example, a circuit with one voltage source, one current source, and two resistors has four branches.

Nodes are the points where two or more branches meet. They are usually shown as dots in circuit diagrams. If a short circuit connects several nodes, they act as one node.

A loop is a closed path that passes through several nodes without visiting any node twice. Some loops are independent, which means they have at least one branch not shared with another loop. A mesh is a special loop that contains no other loops inside it.

Meshes are important in mesh analysis, a method used to solve for current values in a circuit. These ideas also connect to the fundamental theorem of network topology. For a network with b branches, n nodes, and l independent loops, these values follow a specific relationship that is important for circuit analysis and design.
