Si consideri un circuito induttivo nel dominio del tempo. Il circuito nel dominio della frequenza equivalente si ottiene sostituendo la resistenza e l'induttanza con le loro impedenze.
Il circuito è collegato a un ingresso con frequenza variabile e l'uscita viene presa attraverso l'induttanza.
 La divisione della tensione da uscita a ingresso determina la funzione di trasferimento.
 L'espressione della funzione di trasferimento fornisce la grandezza e la fase da essa derivata.
Il rapporto tra induttanza e resistenza è uguale alla costante di tempo del circuito induttivo.
La grandezza e la fase possono essere scritte in termini di costante di tempo.
Quando la frequenza si avvicina allo zero, la funzione di trasferimento si avvicina allo zero e lo sfasamento approssima pi greco su due.
Quando la frequenza è uguale all'inverso della costante di tempo, l'ampiezza raggiunge circa 0,707 volte il suo valore massimo e lo sfasamento è pi greco su quattro.
Allo stesso modo, a frequenze più elevate, la funzione di trasferimento si avvicina all'unità e lo sfasamento tende a zero.
Questi punti, tra alcuni aggiuntivi, rappresentano la risposta in frequenza attraverso grafici di ampiezza o grandezza e risposta di fase.

I circuiti induttivi presentano sfide interessanti nell'ingegneria elettrica, in particolare durante la transizione dal dominio del tempo a quello della frequenza. Questa trasformazione comporta la conversione degli induttori in impedenze e l'utilizzo della rappresentazione dei fasori.

Man mano che viene esplorato lo spettro delle frequenze, emergono tendenze distintive. La funzione di trasferimento si avvicina allo zero a frequenze più basse, accompagnata da uno sfasamento approssimativo π/2. Inductive circuit frequency response shows how a circuit with an inductor reacts to different frequencies. The analysis starts in the time domain and then moves into the frequency domain. In that step, the inductor is replaced by an impedance, and the circuit is written with phasors, which are sinusoidal signals shown with magnitude and phase.

The transfer function describes how the output changes compared with the input at each frequency. A key parameter is the time constant, which is the ratio of inductance to resistance in the circuit. The magnitude of the transfer function is found by using the inverse of the time constant in the transfer function equation.

This approach also gives the phase shift between the output and input sinusoids. The phase angle shows how far one signal leads or lags the other. Graphs of amplitude response and phase response help show the circuit’s frequency behavior in a clear way.

The response changes across the frequency spectrum. At low frequencies, the transfer function approaches zero, and the phase shift is about π/2. At high frequencies, the transfer function approaches unity, and the phase shift moves toward zero.

The half-power frequency is an important point in this behavior. It is the inverse of the time constant. At this frequency, the magnitude and phase of the transfer function can be determined accurately, giving a complete view of the circuit’s response.
