Il metodo della sovrapposizione viene utilizzato in ingegneria strutturale per calcolare la pendenza e la deflessione di travi soggette a carichi multipli.
Quando una trave subisce vari carichi concentrati o distribuiti, è spesso più pratico calcolare separatamente la pendenza e la deflessione causate da ciascun carico.
Viene quindi applicato il principio di sovrapposizione, sommando i valori di pendenza o deflessione corrispondenti a ciascun carico per determinare l'effetto totale.
Si consideri una trave appoggiata sottoposta a carichi distribuiti e concentrati.
In primo luogo, vengono determinate la pendenza e la deflessione causate dal carico concentrato, seguite dalla deflessione dovuta al carico distribuito, utilizzando un'equazione della curva elastica.
L'equazione della pendenza si ottiene differenziando l'equazione della deflessione. Le pendenze e le deflessioni causate da carichi distribuiti e concentrati vengono quindi combinate, ottenendo la deflessione e la pendenza complessive della trave.
Il metodo di sovrapposizione semplifica gli scenari di carico complessi, fornendo calcoli accurati per la deflessione e la pendenza della trave, essenziali per una progettazione strutturale sicura ed efficace.
