Un diodo ideale è un elemento circuitale non lineare con l'anodo come terminale positivo e il catodo come terminale negativo.
Quando viene applicata una tensione negativa, non scorre corrente. Questo è chiamato polarizzazione inversa o cut-off, in cui il diodo agisce come un circuito aperto.
Se viene applicata una tensione positiva, il diodo si comporta come un cortocircuito con caduta di tensione pari a zero. Questo stato è chiamato forward biased o essere attivato.
Il diodo ideale presenta caratteristiche I-V lineari a tratti con due segmenti rettilinei a 90 gradi l'uno dall'altro.
A differenza dei diodi ideali, i diodi pratici presentano una piccola caduta di tensione a polarizzazione diretta e una corrente di dispersione a polarizzazione inversa diversa da zero.
Il diodo ideale utilizzato nei circuiti raddrizzatori converte la CA in CC. Durante i semicicli positivi della sinusoide di ingresso, il diodo conduce e la tensione di uscita è uguale alla tensione di ingresso.
Durante i semicicli negativi, il diodo non conduce, con conseguente tensione di uscita zero.
Quindi, la tensione di uscita raddrizzata è unidirezionale e ha un valore medio finito o un componente CC.

Questo modello mostra una netta transizione tra gli stati di conduzione e non conduzione, eliminando la curva graduale nei diodi reali.


Mentre i diodi reali presentano una certa caduta di tensione quando polarizzati direttamente e una piccola corrente di dispersione quando polarizzati inversamente, il modello di diodo ideale ignora questi aspetti per semplificare l'analisi del circuito. Questo modello è significativo nei circuiti raddrizzatori che convertono la corrente alternata in corrente continua. Durante i cicli positivi di CA, il diodo ideale conduce, rendendo la tensione di uscita uguale a quella di ingresso. Nei cicli negativi, blocca la corrente, portando a zero la tensione di uscita. The Ideal Diode

An ideal diode is a simple model of a semiconductor diode used to show how current moves through circuits. A diode has two terminals. The anode is positive, and the cathode is negative. In this model, current can flow only in one direction.

When a positive voltage is applied to the anode relative to the cathode, the diode is forward-biased. In that state, it conducts current. When the cathode is at a higher potential than the anode, the diode is reverse-biased. It then blocks current and acts like an open switch.

The ideal diode is shown with a piecewise linear I-V curve, or current-voltage curve. One part is a vertical line that shows current flow during forward bias. The other part is a horizontal line that shows no current flow during reverse bias. This sharp change leaves out the gradual curve seen in real diodes. It also ignores the voltage drop in forward bias and the small leakage current in reverse bias.

This simplified model is useful for circuit analysis, especially in rectifier circuits that change AC into DC. During the positive part of an AC cycle, the ideal diode conducts and the output voltage matches the input. During the negative part, it blocks current and the output drops to zero. The result is a DC output that many electronic devices need for steady power.
