I vibratori meccanici vengono utilizzati per compattare il calcestruzzo appena posizionato nelle forme e attorno all'armatura per espellere l'aria intrappolata e formare una massa di calcestruzzo denso.
Comunemente, un vibratore interno, come un vibratore da poker, viene immerso rapidamente attraverso l'intero spessore del calcestruzzo appena posizionato e parzialmente nello strato sottostante di calcestruzzo esistente allo stato plastico. 
Le vibrazioni vengono fornite ogni 2 o 3 piedi lungo la superficie del calcestruzzo per durate che vanno da 5 secondi a 2 minuti, a seconda della consistenza del calcestruzzo.
L'attizzatoio viene gradualmente tirato per garantire che lo spazio che aveva occupato nel cemento si sigilli naturalmente. 
A differenza dei vibratori interni che lavorano direttamente sul calcestruzzo, i vibratori esterni sono saldamente fissati alla cassaforma tramite un supporto elastico, consentendo la vibrazione simultanea sia della forma che del calcestruzzo.
Viene utilizzato per sezioni prefabbricate o sottili in situ e può richiedere regolazioni di posizione durante il getto del calcestruzzo.
In alternativa, è possibile utilizzare una tavola vibrante per fornire vibrazioni uniformi alle unità prefabbricate in calcestruzzo bloccando la cassaforma al vibratore.

I vibratori meccanici sono fondamentali per compattare il calcestruzzo appena gettato all'interno della cassaforma e attorno ai rinforzi. Questo processo serve a eliminare le sacche d'aria intrappolate e creare una massa di calcestruzzo densa. Un metodo ampiamente utilizzato è la vibrazione tramite vibratori interni, spesso denominati vibratori a poker o vibratori a immersione. Vengono rapidamente inseriti attraverso l'intera profondità del calcestruzzo appena gettato e si estendono leggermente nello strato sottostante (che rimane in uno stato plastico). Vibrazioni costanti vengono applicate sulla superficie del calcestruzzo a intervalli di ogni 60-90 centimetri per un periodo da 5 secondi a 2 minuti, a seconda della consistenza della miscela di calcestruzzo. Mentre il vibratore viene lentamente ritirato, il foro lasciato indietro viene naturalmente sigillato, impedendo la formazione di vuoti.


 Un altro metodo impiega vibratori esterni che sono fissati alla cassaforma per far vibrare la cassaforma e il calcestruzzo simultaneamente. Questo viene utilizzato per elementi prefabbricati o sezioni più sottili di calcestruzzo. A differenza dei vibratori interni che vibrano direttamente il calcestruzzo, i vibratori esterni svolgono un lavoro aggiuntivo facendo vibrare le casseforme, rendendoli meno efficienti dei vibratori interni. Occasionalmente, i vibratori esterni devono essere spostati da un posto all'altro a seconda del posizionamento del calcestruzzo. Per le unità di calcestruzzo prefabbricato, viene utilizzato un tavolo vibrante, in cui la cassaforma è fissata direttamente sulla piattaforma per ottenere una vibrazione uniforme in tutta l'unità.

Concrete compaction with vibrators helps newly poured concrete settle inside formwork and around reinforcement bars. The goal is to remove trapped air pockets and create a dense concrete mass. Mechanical vibration is a key part of that process.

One common method uses an internal vibrator, also called a poker vibrator or immersion vibrator. It is quickly inserted through the full depth of the fresh concrete and slightly into the layer below, which is still in a plastic state. The vibrator is applied across the surface at intervals of about 2 to 3 feet for 5 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on how stiff or fluid the mix is. As the tool is slowly pulled out, the hole closes on its own and helps prevent voids.

External vibrators are another option. These are attached to the formwork so the form and the concrete vibrate together. They are often used for precast elements or thinner concrete sections. Because they also vibrate the formwork, they do extra work and are less efficient than internal vibrators. In some cases, they must be moved from place to place as the concrete is placed.

For precast concrete units, a vibrating table can be used. In this setup, the formwork is fixed directly to the platform. The table provides a uniform vibration throughout the unit and helps compact the concrete evenly.
