Gli zeri razionali sono un sottoinsieme degli zeri reali che possono essere espressi come rapporto di due numeri interi.Il Teorema degli Zeri Razionali afferma che in un polinomio con coefficienti interi, ogni zero razionale deve essere una frazione p su q, dove p divide il termine costante e q divide il coefficiente principale.Il Teorema degli Zeri Razionali identifica i possibili zeri razionali dividendo i fattori del termine costante, che sono i numeri che dividono equamente la costante, per i fattori del coefficiente della variabile con la potenza più alta.Questi possibili valori vengono testati utilizzando la divisione sintetica, in cui i coefficienti del polinomio vengono divisi per ogni zero reale candidato. Un resto diverso da zero significa che il valore non è uno zero del polinomio. Un resto zero conferma uno zero effettivo.Nella progettazione di imballaggi, il volume di una scatola può essere modellato da un polinomio in termini di dimensione del taglio. Impostando questo polinomio uguale a un volume target e riorganizzando si ottiene una nuova equazione uguale a zero. Real Zeros of Polynomials

Polynomials can be analyzed by finding their real zeros, which are the values of x that make the polynomial equal to zero. These points are also the x-intercepts of the graph. Understanding them helps students see where a polynomial crosses the x-axis.

The Rational Zeros Theorem gives a list of possible rational solutions for a polynomial with integer coefficients. If f(x)=anx^n+...+a0, then every rational zero has the form p/q. In that form, p divides the constant term a0 and q divides the leading coefficient an. The theorem does not prove that each candidate is a zero, but it does give a finite set of rational numbers to test.

Synthetic division is used to check whether a candidate value is a zero. If the remainder is zero, then the value is a real zero of the polynomial. The polynomial can then be factored, which lowers its degree and makes further analysis easier. Repeating this process breaks the polynomial into lower-degree factors.
