Entro tale intervallo, anche la funzione vincolata tra di esse deve condividere tale limite.Questo crea un percorso di restringimento, mantenendo la curva interna intrappolata tra le altre due funzioni vicino a un punto specifico.Si consideri la funzione x² volte il coseno di 20πx.Quando x si avvicina a zero, la funzione converge a zero.Poiché il coseno è sempre limitato tra -1 e 1, moltiplicando per x² il prodotto oscilla all'interno degli inviluppi –x² e x², indipendentemente dalla sua frequenza.Di conseguenza, l'intera funzione rimane tra due funzioni di delimitazione: –x² e x².Entrambe le funzioni limite si avvicinano allo zero quando x si avvicina allo zero, quindi anche la funzione intermedia si avvicina allo zero, come definito dal teorema della compressione.Questo teorema appare anche nei software di ingegneria, dove le stime delle sollecitazioni sono limitate tra limiti superiore e inferiore. Il comportamento convergente delle funzioni maggiorante e minorante restringe l&#8217;intervallo entro cui pu&#242; collocarsi la funzione intermedia, implicando che essa ammetta lo stesso valore limite.
La condizione fondamentale per applicare il teorema &#232; che la funzione in questione rimanga sempre maggiore o uguale a una funzione minorante e minore o uguale a una funzione maggiorante in prossimit&#224; del punto in esame. Se entrambe le funzioni di confronto tendono allo stesso valore, la funzione intermedia condivide tale comportamento limite, indipendentemente dalla sua complessit&#224; interna. Questo principio &#232; particolarmente utile quando la funzione non &#232; facilmente trattabile tramite tecniche convenzionali a causa del suo comportamento irregolare.

Using bounds to find a limit is the main idea behind the Squeeze Theorem. It helps when a function changes in a way that makes direct limit evaluation difficult. Some functions may oscillate quickly or follow irregular patterns near a specific input value.

The theorem works by placing the function between two other functions near that point. The function must stay greater than or equal to a lower bound and less than or equal to an upper bound. If both outer functions approach the same limit as the input gets closer to the point, the function in the middle must approach that same limit too.

This converging behavior narrows the range of possible values for the trapped function. As the boundaries move toward the same number, the intermediate function is forced toward that number as well. The Squeeze Theorem is especially useful for limits that are hard to approach with standard methods because the function behaves erratically.
