Usare la velocità iniziale di zero aiuta a trovare la costante rimanente nella soluzione.Con l'aumentare del tempo, la velocità si avvicina a un valore costante noto come velocità terminale. Con un peso di 10 chilogrammi e una costante di resistenza di 2 newton-secondi per metro, il modello prevede una velocità terminale di 49 metri al secondo.

Comportamento esponenziale e velocit&#xE0; terminale
Risolvendo l&#x2019;equazione differenziale ottenuta, si ricava una funzione della velocit&#xE0; che cresce nel tempo ma tende asintoticamente a un limite finito. Questo andamento riflette il progressivo bilanciamento tra gravit&#xE0; e resistenza dell&#x2019;aria, fino a raggiungere uno stato noto come velocit&#xE0; terminale: il punto in cui l&#x2019;accelerazione si annulla e l&#x2019;oggetto cade a velocit&#xE0; costante. Con una massa di 10 kg e una costante di resistenza aerodinamica pari a 2 N&#xB7;s/m, la velocit&#xE0; terminale calcolata &#xE8; 49 m/s. Newton’s Second Law links the net force on the weight to its acceleration. Gravity provides a constant downward force equal to mass times gravitational acceleration. Air resistance is modeled as a force proportional to the object’s velocity, so the upward drag grows as the weight moves faster.

When these forces are combined, the result is a first-order differential equation. It relates how fast the velocity changes to the velocity itself. Solving the equation gives a velocity function that rises over time but levels off toward a finite limit.

That limit is terminal velocity, which is the speed reached when acceleration stops and the object falls at a constant rate. For a 10 kg mass with a drag constant of 2 N·s/m, the terminal velocity is 49 m/s. This example shows how differential equations describe real motion and explain how air resistance limits free fall.
