Simple Harmonic Motion: Energy and Speed

Simple harmonic motion combines potential energy and kinetic energy. In a spring-like oscillator, Hooke’s law explains the potential energy stored when the string or spring is stretched or compressed. Because there are no dissipative forces, the object also has kinetic energy as it moves.

平衡状態の摩擦のない表面上の力定数kを持つばねに取り付けられた質量mのブロックを考えてみましょう。

ブロックが変位すると、初期位置から最終位置までの変位に沿ったばね力によって行われる仕事は、その変位に対してばねに蓄えられる位置エネルギーの量と等しくなります。これを弾性ポテンシャルエネルギーといいます。

離すと、ブロックは単純な調和運動をします。その前後の動きに必要なエネルギーは並進運動エネルギーと呼ばれ、その速度と質量の2乗に正比例します。

振動中、両方のエネルギーは連続的に交換され、正弦波で表されます。弾性ポテンシャルエネルギーは最大変位で最大になり、並進運動エネルギーは平衡位置で最大になります。
