Water Phase Changes on a Pressure Chart

Water phase changes can be mapped on a pressure and temperature chart called a phase diagram. These plots show which phase a substance is in at different conditions. They also reveal where phase transitions happen, because the boundary lines mark the temperatures and pressures where two phases coexist.

自然界では、物質は固体、液体、気体の3つの相で存在します。相間の遷移には、2つの相間の相平衡が必要であり、特定の圧力に対して特定の温度で発生します。

これらの条件は、圧力と温度を軸としてグラフィカルに表すことができます(状態図と呼ばれます)。

状態図は、熱力学的平衡状態で共存し、温度、圧力、体積などのさまざまな条件下で相転移を起こす物質の相を表します。

水は室温と大気圧で液相に存在します。0^°C以下では液体から固体に相が変化し、100^°Cを超えると気相に変化します。

固体と気体の間の遷移は昇華と呼ばれ、固体から液体、液体から気体への遷移はそれぞれ融合と気化として知られています。
