理想ダイオードは、アノードを正端子、カソードを負端子とする非線形回路素子です。
負の電圧が印加されると、電流は流れません。これは逆バイアスまたはカットオフと呼ばれ、ダイオードが開回路として機能します。
正の電圧が印加されると、ダイオードは電圧降下がゼロの短絡として動作します。この状態は、フォワードバイアスまたはオンと呼ばれます。
理想ダイオードは、互いに90度の位置にある2つの直線セグメントを持つ区分線形I-V特性を示します。
理想ダイオードとは異なり、実用的なダイオードは、順方向バイアスの電圧降下が小さく、逆バイアスのリーク電流がゼロではありません。
整流回路で使用される理想ダイオードは、ACをDCに変換します。入力正弦波の正の半サイクルの間、ダイオードは導通し、出力電圧は入力電圧と等しくなります。
負の半サイクル間、ダイオードは導通せず、出力電圧はゼロになります。
したがって、整流された出力電圧は単方向であり、有限の平均値またはDC成分を持ちます。

理想ダイオード

The Ideal Diode

An ideal diode is a simple model of a semiconductor diode used to show how current moves through circuits. A diode has two terminals. The anode is positive, and the cathode is negative. In this model, current can flow only in one direction.

When a positive voltage is applied to the anode relative to the cathode, the diode is forward-biased. In that state, it conducts current. When the cathode is at a higher potential than the anode, the diode is reverse-biased. It then blocks current and acts like an open switch.

The ideal diode is shown with a piecewise linear I-V curve, or current-voltage curve. One part is a vertical line that shows current flow during forward bias. The other part is a horizontal line that shows no current flow during reverse bias. This sharp change leaves out the gradual curve seen in real diodes. It also ignores the voltage drop in forward bias and the small leakage current in reverse bias.

This simplified model is useful for circuit analysis, especially in rectifier circuits that change AC into DC. During the positive part of an AC cycle, the ideal diode conducts and the output voltage matches the input. During the negative part, it blocks current and the output drops to zero. The result is a DC output that many electronic devices need for steady power.
