周期的な信号が時間的にシフトしても、そのフーリエ係数の大きさは変わらないため、時間シフトがあっても信号は保持されます。
連続時間信号が時間反転を受けると、そのフーリエ級数係数のシーケンスも時間反転を経験します。
信号が均等な対称性を示す場合、対応するフーリエ級数の係数も偶数対称になります。同様に、奇数信号のフーリエ級数係数も奇数の対称性を示します。
ラジオ放送では、フーリエ級数のタイムシフト特性により、周波数変調時の信号品質が保証されます。
直線性特性により、FMラジオで干渉を受けることなく、複数の信号を同じチャネルで送信できます。
時間反転特性は、デジタル信号処理で利用され、信号の畳み込みなどの操作を支援します。

周期信号を時間シフトしても、フーリエ係数の大きさは変わりません。この不変性は、信号のシフトにもかかわらず信号の基本的な特性がそのまま維持されることを意味します。たとえば、ラジオ放送では、この特性により、信号を時間シフトしても品質が変わらないことが保証されます。数学的には、x(t) が t_0 だけシフトされると、新しい信号 x(t−t_0) のフーリエ係数は e^−jωt・X(jω) になります。ここで、X(jω) は元の係数です。大きさ ∣X(jω)∣ は変更されません。

時間反転は、信号のフーリエ級数係数のシーケンスも時間反転されるもう 1 つの重要な特性です。信号 x(t) の場合、時間反転バージョン x(−t) のフーリエ係数は、元の係数 X(−jω) の複素共役になります。この特性はデジタル信号処理、特に畳み込み演算で広く使用されており、信号の数学的操作を簡素化します。

Fourier series properties help describe periodic signals in signal processing and communications. A Fourier series breaks a signal into sine and cosine parts. These properties make it easier to study how signals behave and how they can be handled in real systems.

Linearity is one of the most important properties. If two periodic signals are added together or combined in a linear way, the new signal has Fourier coefficients that are the same linear combination of the original coefficients. This idea is useful in FM radio, where multiple signals can share the same channel without interference.

Time shifting also affects Fourier series in a predictable way. When a periodic signal is moved in time, its Fourier coefficients gain a phase factor, but their magnitude does not change. That means the signal keeps its essential features even after the shift. In radio broadcasting, this helps show that moving a signal in time does not change its quality.

Time reversal is another key property. If a signal x(t) is reversed to x(-t), its Fourier series coefficients are also reversed, and they become the complex conjugate form of the original coefficients. This property is widely used in digital signal processing, especially in convolution, where it helps simplify signal math.
