비대칭 굽힘은 굽힘 모멘트가 부재의 대칭 평면을 따라 작용하지 않거나 부재가 대칭 평면을 소유하지 않을 때 발생합니다.
비대칭 굽힘을 이해하려면 임의의 모양의 단면의 중립 축이 커플의 축과 일치하는 조건을 연구해야 합니다.
임의의 모양을 고려하면 중립 축과 커플 축이 z 축을 따라 있습니다. 여기서, x축을 따른 힘과 y축과 z축을 따른 몇 개의 모멘트는 응력과 단면적으로 표현할 수 있습니다.
비례 한계 내에서, 부재 내에서 발생하는 응력은 커플 모멘트의 y-성분을 계산하기 위해 최대 응력으로 표현될 수 있습니다.
적분은 y축과 z축을 따른 관성의 곱이며 중심 축인 경우 0이 됩니다.

중립축의 위치는 단면 전체의 수직 응력의 합이 0이 되도록 하여 결정됩니다. 비대칭 굽힘에서의 커플 모멘트는 단면 중심을 통과하지 않는 힘에 의해 발생하는 모멘트를 나타냅니다. 이러한 모멘트는 여러 축에 대한 굽힘을 초래하며 부재 전체의 응력 분포를 결정하는 데 중요합니다.

Unsymmetric Bending

Unsymmetrical bending happens when a bending moment does not line up with a member’s principal axis. This creates a stress pattern and deflection shape that are more complex than in symmetrical bending. These effects matter when engineers design structures for different loading conditions.

In unsymmetrical bending, the neutral axis is the line where stress is zero. It does not always match the geometric axes of the cross-section. Its orientation depends on the relationship between the applied load and the shape of the section.

The position of the neutral axis is found by making the sum of the normal stresses across the section equal to zero. A couple moment can also appear when forces do not pass through the centroid of the cross-section. That moment causes bending about more than one axis and changes the stress distribution in the member.

The proportional limit is the stress level where a material stops behaving in a linear elastic way. The product of inertia measures how area elements are spread relative to the chosen axes. When the axes match the centroidal axes of the section, stress calculations become simpler, and the neutral axis aligns with them as principal axes for bending.
