Binary Fission

- [Instructeur] Prokaryoten vermenigvuldigen zich via een celdeling, zij het door middel van een ander proces dan eukaryoten, een die ongeslachtelijk is en twee genetisch identieke klonen van zichzelf vormt.
 Dit type reproductie wordt binaire deling genoemd, dat wil zeggen, verdeling in twee&#xEB;n.
 Om te delen, vervangt de cel eerst zijn DNA door het chromosoom te kopi&#xEB;ren vanaf de oorsprong van de replicatie, een gebied in de buurt van het chromosoomcontact met het celplasmamembraan, replicatie-enzymen kopi&#xEB;ren het chromosoom bidirectioneel en bewegen zich in tegengestelde richting van de oorsprong om twee dubbelstrengschromosomen te maken.
Als replicatie optreedt, beginnen beide chromosomen zich van elkaar af te bewegen naar de tegenovergestelde kanten van de cel.
 De cel rekt op wat de chromosoom of kerndeling aanspoort.
 Zodra de chromosomen naar tegenovergestelde kanten zijn verplaatst, kan de cytoplasmatische scheiding, cytokinese, beginnen.
Nu vormt zich een ring van zelfassemblerende eiwitten in het midden van de cel, die de vorming van een septumring stuurt, een ontwikkelende celwand van de middenpuntranden naar het midden.
 Wanneer het septum klaar is met de ontwikkeling, knijpt het de celdeling af om twee identieke dochtercellen op te leveren.

Splijting is de verdeling van een enkele entiteit in twee of meer delen, die zich regenereren in afzonderlijke entiteiten die op het origineel lijken. Organismen in de Archaea- en Bacteria-domeinen reproduceren zich met behulp van binaire splitsing, waarbij een oudercel zich in twee delen splitst die elk kunnen uitgroeien tot de grootte van de oorspronkelijke oudercel. Deze aseksuele reproductiemethode produceert cellen die allemaal genetisch identiek zijn.<h4>De snelheid van bacteri&#xEB;le splijting</h4>Hoewel de snelheid ervan per soort varieert, is binaire splijting over het algemeen snel en kan deze een duizelingwekkende groei opleveren. In de hoeveelheid tijd die bacteri&#xEB;le cellen nodig hebben om binaire splitsing te ondergaan, verdubbelt het aantal cellen in de bacteriecultuur. Deze periode wordt dus de verdubbelingstijd genoemd. Escherichia coli-cellen delen zich bijvoorbeeld doorgaans elke 20 minuten. De groei van bacteri&#xEB;n wordt echter beperkt door factoren zoals de beschikbaarheid van voedingsstoffen en ruimte. Binaire splijting vindt daarom plaats met veel lagere snelheden in bacterieculturen die een groeibeperkende factor hebben bereikt (dat wil zeggen een stationaire groeifase zijn binnengegaan).<h4>Splijting van organellen in eukaryotische cellen</h4>Naast organismen in de domeinen Archaea en Bacteria, reproduceren sommige organellen in eukaryotische cellen zich ook via binaire splitsing. Mitochondria delen zich bijvoorbeeld door prokaryote binaire splitsing. Dit proces vereist de verdeling van mitochondriale eiwitten en DNA.

how cells split by binary fission

Binary fission is a common way that bacteria and archaea reproduce. In this process, one parent cell divides into two parts. Each new cell can then grow to the size of the original parent cell. This is an asexual form of reproduction, so the cells produced are genetically identical.

Binary fission can happen very fast. In the time it takes one bacterial cell to divide, the number of cells in the culture doubles. That time is called the doubling time. Escherichia coli cells often divide every 20 minutes, but the rate can vary by species.

Bacterial growth does not stay fast forever. It can slow when nutrients or space run low. When this happens, the culture enters a stationary growth phase, and binary fission occurs at a much lower rate.

Some organelles in eukaryotic cells also reproduce by binary fission. Mitochondria are one example. Their division uses prokaryotic binary fission and requires the division of mitochondrial proteins and DNA.
