Adriano is a biologist holding a Ph.D. in Regenerative Medicine from Utrecht University (Netherlands) and a Master’s in “Tissue, Cell and Gene Biotherapies” from Université Paris-Saclay (France). He has a combined experience in academia and industry (R&D/Manufacturing), particularly in the fields of gene therapy, nanobiotechnology and vaccines. During his doctorate in Europe as a Marie-Curie fellow, he worked at a Dutch biotech start-up in a project about non-viral gene therapy for osteoarthritis. He demonstrated the development of bioreducible polymeric nanoparticles for local delivery of mRNA into the knee joints, as well as the application of these nanoformulations in various biological models (in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo). At JoVE, he aims to build new collaborations to strengthen reproducibility across the scientific community. Outside of working hours, he enjoys playing basketball, watching series and traveling. adriano.pontes@jove.com
