Flávia Petean earned her Ph.D. in Systematics and Evolution from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Florida (USA), and completed three years of postdoctoral research in Argentina. Her work explored the diversity of sharks and stingrays, combining taxonomy, ecology, molecular biology, and evolutionary biology to understand how these species evolved and adapted over time. Before joining the company as a Science Editor, Flávia worked in academic research and science communication, publishing her studies in international journals and presenting her findings around the world. She enjoys turning complex scientific ideas into clear, engaging stories that inspire curiosity and connection. Outside of work, Flávia loves traveling to new places and spending time with her family, especially exploring nature together. flavia.petean@jove.com
