Julia is a biomedical scientist and received her PhD in Biological Sciences (Microbiology) from the University of Sao Paulo – USP (Sao Paulo – Brazil). During her PhD, she worked with pathogenic fungi, analyzing the cell wall structure of Sporothrix brasiliensis and Sporothrix schenckii for vaccination and diagnostic purposes. She also joined the Immunobiology of Aspergillus team at Institut Pasteur (Paris – France) for 6 months during her PhD, working with fungal cell wall carbohydrate analysis and innate immune system interaction. With a strong background in molecular biology, in vitro and in vivo experimentation, she decided to make the transition from academia to industry, taking her passion for science and science communication with her.
