Lidia Nicola

Dr. Lidia Nicola is a researcher and a lecturer at the University of Pavia (Italy). She earned her PhD in Biology at Innsbruck University (Austria) in collaboration with the Edmund Mach Agronomical Research Centre (Italy), with a project on discovering the hidden soil microbial diversity under the long-standing problem of Apple Replant Disease, in order to find eco-friendly solutions for the growers. Her PhD thesis won the Caretta Prize for Environmental and Applied Mycology. Currently, she works at the Environmental Mycology Lab of the University of Pavia. Her main research interest is soil fungal biodiversity, but she works also on fungal bioremediation, agricultural mycology, and food and indoor mycology.
