Madhuparna Chatterjee earned her PhD in Ecology from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Her research explored the population genetics and spatial genetic structure of tropical forest tree species, investigating how gene flow, genetic diversity, and ecological factors shape the genetic architecture of dominant species across forest landscapes. She also holds a master’s degree in Genetics and a bachelor’s degree in Botany (Honours) from the University of Calcutta. Her research has contributed to scientific publications in international journals focusing on plant ecology, biodiversity, and forest community dynamics. Before joining JoVE as a Science Editor, Madhuparna worked in scientific writing and research communication, where she conducted extensive literature reviews and translated complex scientific findings into clear, evidence-based narratives for diverse audiences. Her work focused on making complex scientific concepts accessible while maintaining scientific accuracy and clarity. She enjoys transforming complex research into engaging stories that make science more accessible and meaningful to wider audiences. Outside of work, Madhuparna enjoys reading books, watching anime, and exploring intriguing unexplained phenomena from around the world. madhuparna.chatterjee@jove.com
