Dr. Ori Bar-Nur is an Associate Professor of Regenerative and Muscle Biology in the Department of Health Sciences and Technology at ETH Zurich. He earned his PhD with distinction from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard University. Dr. Bar-Nur’s research focuses on stem cell biology, skeletal muscle regeneration, and cellular reprogramming, aiming to develop new strategies for tissue repair, disease modeling, and regenerative medicine. To this end, his laboratory pioneered and applies direct reprogramming approaches to convert somatic cells into regenerative-competent myogenic progenitors suitable for potential therapeutic applications. He is the recipient of several competitive grants and honors as a principal investigator, including the Swiss National Science Foundation Eccellenza Grant, the Young Helmut Horten Investigator Award, and the Spark Award. His lab’s research has provided fundamental insights and translational advances in muscle and pluripotent stem cell research.
