Meredith Solomon

Manager, Outreach & Public Services, Harvard University
In my current role as Manager, Outreach & Public Services, Countway Library, I manage the daily operations of the information desk as well as program development for students, staff & faculty; supervision of full and part-time staff, and oversight for Countway’s outreach communication. My greatest strength is in connecting with students to support their medical education and overall well-being. Throughout my career as a medical librarian in both hospitals and academic libraries, my focus has evolved. It’s changed from a traditional librarian mindset to a more student-centric one where I’ve used outreach as a tool to better understand the needs of library users and find innovative ways to support them. At Countway, the anchor of the Longwood Medical Campus, this relationship-focused role has been an asset given the high value that resources and research hold for medical students. My librarian knowledge and skillset has helped me to better connect with students, staff, and faculty and to bridge alliances across disparate communities.
