The Staircase Procedure for Finding a Perceptual Threshold

1. Bodźce i sprzęt
<ol>
	<li>Ten eksperyment będzie wymagał komputera z podstawowym oprogramowaniem eksperymentalnym, a także zestawu słuchawek i stosunkowo cichego pomieszczenia testowego (izolacja akustyczna nie jest konieczna). </li>

The staircase procedure is an efficient method for finding a perceptual threshold. Here, the stimulus is adjusted step by step based on a person’s response. The method helps identify when a signal first becomes detectable.

This demonstration uses hearing as the example and measures auditory threshold. Auditory threshold is the minimum volume needed for a tone to be perceived. The standard staircase procedure shown here provides a clear way to test that threshold in perceptual psychology.
