Conservation of Energy

Prawo zachowania energii mówi, że całkowita energia izolowanego układu jest zawsze zachowana. Oznacza to, że energia może być przekształcana tylko z jednej formy w drugą.

Matematycznie prawo zachowania energii jest reprezentowane jako suma zmian energii kinetycznej, energii potencjalnej i energii wewnętrznej równa zeru. Innymi słowy, jeśli jedna forma energii maleje, jest ona kompensowana przez wzrost innych form energii.

Na przykład w codziennym użytkowaniu wodę można oszczędzać, nie wykorzystując jej, zużywając jej mniej lub wykorzystując ją ponownie. Jednak z naukowego punktu widzenia zachowana ilość układu pozostaje stała, zmienia się o określoną wielkość, która jest przenoszona do innych układów i przekształcana w inne formy tej wielkości. W sensie naukowym ilość zachowaną można przekształcić, ale nie można jej bezpośrednio stworzyć ani zniszczyć. Zatem nie ma fizycznego prawa zachowania wody.

Zgodnie z zasadą zachowania energii energia mechaniczna cząstki pozostaje stała, chyba że działają na nią siły zewnętrzne lub siły niezachowawcze. W tym przypadku zmiana energii mechanicznej jest równa pracy wykonanej przez siły niezachowawcze. To stwierdzenie wyraża koncepcję zachowania energii dla cząstki klasycznej, o ile istnieje tylko praca konserwatywna. Przypomnijmy, że cząstka klasyczna to po prostu masa punktowa, która nie jest relatywistyczna i jest zgodna z prawami ruchu Newtona.

Energy changes in a closed system follow a conservation law in physics. A conserved quantity is not the same as the everyday use of the word &quot;conserved.&quot; In science, a conserved quantity stays constant, or it changes by a definite amount that is transferred to another system and converted into another form of the same quantity.

This means a conserved quantity can change form, but it cannot be created or destroyed in a strict physical sense. For that reason, physics does not have a law of conservation of water, even though people may say water is conserved in daily life. In the scientific sense, the system keeps track of the quantity as it moves or changes form.

For a classical particle, mechanical energy stays constant unless something outside the system does work or non-conservative forces act on it. A classical particle is a point mass that is non-relativistic and obeys Newton's laws of motion. When non-conservative forces do work, the change in mechanical energy equals that work. If only conservative work is present, the energy-conservation statement holds for the particle.
