Work Done by Many Forces

Całkowitą pracę wykonaną nad obiektem, na który działa wiele sił, można obliczyć za pomocą dwóch metod, które dają ten sam wynik. W jednej metodzie najpierw obliczana jest praca wykonana przez każdą siłę. Następnie wartości te sumuje się algebraicznie, aby obliczyć całkowitą pracę wykonaną przez wszystkie siły. W drugiej metodzie siłę wypadkową oblicza się najpierw na podstawie sumy wektorowej wszystkich sił. Następnie obliczana jest praca wykonana przez tę siłę.

Ponieważ siły prostopadłe do przemieszczenia nie wykonują pracy, nie przyczyniają się do pracy wykonanej nad obiektem. Można je po prostu zignorować w obliczeniach w pierwszej metodzie. Jednak w przypadku drugiej metody należy je najpierw uwzględnić przy obliczaniu wektora siły netto, a dopiero potem ich udział uznaje się za zerowy.

Jeśli na środek masy obiektu działają wzajemnie przeciwne siły, w pierwszej metodzie wykonują one różną pracę dodatnią i ujemną. Następnie uzyskuje się pracę i określa się ją jako dodatnią lub ujemną, w zależności od jej kąta względem przemieszczenia.

Work-Energy Along Curved Paths

The work-energy theorem can be applied to motion along a curved path. A curved path can be treated as many tiny straight paths added together. On each small part, the force can be taken as constant, so the work-energy theorem can be used there. The total result comes from adding the work done along all of those small path segments.
