Attitudes

As pessoas podem ter diferentes perspectivas sobre a vida, dependendo de suas associações ligadas a algo. Por exemplo, alguém pode estar de mau humor: está chovendo lá fora, e ela relaciona isso a estar triste. Quando ela liga a televisão, ela vê um monte de jogadores, expressando felicidade: eles estão prestes a ganhar um cobiçado título como equipe.

Ambas as situações descrevem atitudes – um conjunto de emoções, crenças e comportamentos que resultam de uma avaliação positiva ou negativa de uma pessoa, lugar, objeto ou evento. Aqui, as atitudes são explícitas - conscientemente conhecidas e declaradas externamente.

Felizmente, as interações entre as atitudes das pessoas e como elas agem sobre elas podem ser recíprocas. Ou seja, as atitudes podem afetar as ações – o time de futebol feliz sabe que está alegre e continuará ganhando mais jogos – e as ações podem afetar as atitudes – a mulher pode fazer sua rotina de exercícios dentro de casa para se sentir otimista novamente.

No entanto, às vezes, os indivíduos não estão cientes de suas verdadeiras atitudes ou querem admiti-las, especialmente se forem socialmente inaceitáveis ou controversas, como é o caso de preconceitos raciais e sexualidade, por exemplo. Tais avaliações são consideradas implícitas - elas não são expressas verbalmente ou abertamente; eles ocorrem fora da consciência e do controle.

Mesmo assim, as pessoas podem expressar opiniões sem preconceitos, mas ainda abrigar atitudes negativas. Felizmente, existem recursos para examinar a difusão e a força das atitudes implícitas e trazê-las à consciência!

Atitude é a nossa avaliação de uma pessoa, uma ideia ou um objeto. Temos atitudes para muitas coisas, desde produtos que podemos comprar no supermercado até pessoas ao redor do mundo e políticas políticas. Normalmente, as atitudes são favoráveis ou desfavoráveis: positivas ou negativas (Eagly & Chaiken, 1993). E eles têm três componentes: um componente afetivo (sentimentos), um componente comportamental (o efeito da atitude no comportamento) e um componente cognitivo (crença e conhecimento; Rosenberg & Hovland, 1960).

Pense positivamente.

Por exemplo, você pode ter uma atitude positiva em relação à reciclagem. Essa atitude deve resultar em sentimentos positivos em relação à reciclagem (como "Me sinto bem em reciclar" ou "Gosto de saber que faço uma pequena diferença na redução da quantidade de resíduos que acabam em aterros sanitários"). Certamente, essa atitude deve se refletir em nosso comportamento: você realmente recicla sempre que pode. Finalmente, essa atitude será refletida em pensamentos favoráveis (por exemplo, "Reciclar é bom para o meio ambiente" ou "Reciclar é a coisa responsável a fazer.").

Nossas atitudes e crenças não são influenciadas apenas por forças externas, mas também por influências internas que controlamos. Como nosso comportamento, nossas atitudes e pensamentos nem sempre são alterados por pressões situacionais, mas podem ser conscientemente alterados por nosso próprio livre arbítrio.

Attitude is our evaluation of a person, an idea, or an object. People hold attitudes about many things. These can include products from the supermarket, people around the world, and political policies. Attitudes are usually favorable or unfavorable, meaning positive or negative.

Attitudes also have three parts. The affective component is the feeling part. The behavioral component is the effect the attitude has on behavior. The cognitive component includes belief and knowledge. For example, a positive attitude toward recycling can create good feelings about recycling. It can also lead to the behavior of recycling as often as possible. It can also support thoughts such as, “Recycling is good for the environment” or “Recycling is the responsible thing to do.”

Attitudes and beliefs are shaped by both outside forces and internal influences that we can control. Like behavior, attitudes and thoughts are not always changed by situational pressure. They can also be changed consciously by our own free will.
