Method of Joints

O método das juntas é uma técnica utilizada para analisar as forças em treliças estruturais e baseia-se no princípio do equilíbrio.
Supondo que os membros da treliça estejam conectados por pinos sem atrito, as forças em cada junta podem ser determinadas considerando o equilíbrio das forças que atuam nessa junta.
Como os membros da treliça plana estão no mesmo plano, cada junta está sujeita a um sistema de forças coplanar e concorrente.
Para aplicar o método das juntas, identifique todas as juntas na treliça e rotule-as.
Em seguida, isole e desenhe um diagrama de corpo livre de cada articulação, mostrando todas as forças que atuam nessa articulação. Com base na força aplicada, as forças de tração e empurrão exercidas na junta na treliça são conhecidas como forças de tração e compressão, respectivamente.
As forças membros desconhecidas na articulação são sempre consideradas em tensão.
Finalmente, resolva as forças desconhecidas adicionando as forças que atuam nessa junta nas direções horizontal e vertical e aplicando o princípio do equilíbrio.

O método dos nós é uma técnica comumente usada para analisar as forças em treliças estruturais. O método é baseado no princípio do equilíbrio, que assume que os membros da treliça são conectados por pinos sem atrito. As forças em cada nó podem ser determinadas ao considerar o equilíbrio das forças atuantes nesse nó.

Como os membros da treliça estão no mesmo plano, cada nó está sujeito a um sistema de forças coplanares e concorrentes. Para aplicar o método dos nós, o primeiro passo é identificar todos os nós na treliça e rotulá-los. Em seguida, isole e esboce um diagrama de corpo livre de cada nó, mostrando todas as forças atuantes nesse nó.

As forças de tração e compressão exercidas no nó da treliça são conhecidas como forças de tração e compressão, respectivamente. As forças desconhecidas nos membros do nó são sempre assumidas como tensão. Para resolver as forças desconhecidas, as forças atuando nesse nó nas direções horizontal e vertical são somadas, e o princípio do equilíbrio é aplicado. Esse princípio afirma que a soma de todas as forças nas direções horizontal e vertical deve ser igual a zero. Ao resolver as forças desconhecidas, as forças em todos os membros da treliça podem ser determinadas.

The method of joints is used to find the forces in structural trusses. It relies on equilibrium, which means the forces at a joint must balance. In this model, the truss members are connected by frictionless pins.

For a plane truss, the members lie in the same plane. That means each joint has a coplanar and concurrent force system. The analysis begins by identifying and labeling all the joints in the truss.

Next, each joint is isolated and shown in a free-body diagram. This diagram includes every force acting on that joint. The pull forces are tensile forces, and the push forces are compressive forces. Any unknown member force is first assumed to act in tension.

The unknown forces are then solved by adding the forces in the horizontal and vertical directions. The principle of equilibrium is applied so the sum of forces in each direction equals zero. By solving joint by joint, the forces in all truss members can be found. This makes the method of joints a useful way for engineers to check whether a structure is safe and durable.
