Uma compreensão clara da localização do centro de cisalhamento e como aplicar cargas de forma eficaz pode melhorar significativamente a estabilidade e o desempenho de membros de paredes finas.
Quando uma carga é aplicada obliquamente no centro de corte, a barra permanece livre de qualquer torção. A carga é dividida em dois componentes correspondentes a condições de carga simétricas e assimétricas, nenhuma das quais induz torção no membro.
