O teorema momento-área fornece propriedades geométricas de uma curva elástica para determinar a deflexão e a inclinação em qualquer ponto da viga que suporta um piso de edifício.

The first theorem links slope change to area on an M/EI diagram. Here, M is the bending moment, E is the modulus of elasticity, and I is the moment of inertia. When M/EI is plotted along the beam length, the area under the curve gives the total rotation between two points on the elastic curve.

The second theorem deals with tangential deviation, or vertical displacement, between two points.
