O controle Proporcional-Derivativo (PD) é um método de controle amplamente usado em vários sistemas de engenharia para melhorar a estabilidade e o desempenho. Em um sistema com apenas controle proporcional, problemas comuns incluem alta oscilação e alta ultrapassagem máxima, observadas tanto no sinal de erro quanto em sua taxa de mudança. Esse comportamento pode ser dividido em três fases distintas: ultrapassagem inicial, subavaliação subsequente e estabilização gradual.


 Considere o exemplo do controle do torque do motor. Inicialmente, um sinal de erro positivo gera um torque positivo do motor que cresce rapidamente. Esse aumento no torque leva a uma ultrapassagem e oscilações significativas na saída, atribuídas à alta força e ao amortecimento insuficiente. A saída do sistema excede o valor desejado, refletindo a correção inicial excessiva e a resistência fraca do controle proporcional.


 Na segunda fase, um sinal de erro negativo produz torque negativo do motor, o que desacelera a saída, fazendo com que ela fique abaixo do alvo. Essa subavaliação indica a tendência do sistema de supercompensar na direção oposta após a ultrapassagem inicial. A redução do torque nesta fase desacelera a saída, mas a ausência de amortecimento adequado resulta em comportamento oscilatório.


 Durante a fase final, o torque positivo do motor reaparece, reduzindo o erro da fase anterior. Cada oscilação vê uma amplitude de erro decrescente, estabilizando progressivamente a saída do sistema. A alta correção inicial e a resistência fraca que causaram a ultrapassagem são contrabalançadas pelo aumento da resistência e pela força corretiva reduzida nesta fase.


 O controle PD aborda efetivamente esses problemas introduzindo ajustes antecipatórios com base na inclinação do sinal de erro. Este mecanismo antecipatório permite que o sistema preveja e corrija sua direção, mitigando a ultrapassagem excessiva e reduzindo a amplitude das oscilações. Ao ajustar a taxa de resposta do sistema, o controle PD ajusta a força de correção inicial e aumenta a resistência, levando a ultrapassagens menores. Consequentemente, o sistema obtém uma saída mais estável e controlada.

PD control helps reduce overshoot and oscillation in motor torque systems. Proportional control uses the size of the error signal to set the correction. When the response is too large or too small, the output can move away from the target and then swing back.

With proportional control alone, the system often goes through three stages. First, a positive error signal creates a rapidly rising positive motor torque. That strong push can cause a large overshoot because the system has high force but not enough damping, which is the resistance that helps slow motion.

Next, the error signal turns negative. This produces negative motor torque, which slows the output and can make it undershoot the target. The system then overcorrects in the opposite direction, and the lack of damping keeps the motion oscillating.

In the final stage, positive motor torque appears again and reduces the undershoot. Each new swing becomes smaller as the error amplitude drops and the output settles closer to the desired value. PD control improves this behavior by adding an anticipatory adjustment based on the slope, or rate of change, of the error signal. That extra correction helps predict the direction of the error, lowers overshoot and undershoot, and makes the output more stable.
