The magnitude of vector A is the square root of the sum of the squares of its components. Its direction is described by the coordinate direction angles α, β, and γ with the x, y, and z axes. A key relationship comes from squaring the equation for the direction cosines. The sum of the squares of the direction cosines equals one. If two of the coordinate angles are known, this relationship can be used to find the third angle.
