Заметив, что ускорение планет уменьшается обратно пропорционально их удалению от Солнца, Ньютон предсказал, что гравитационная сила действует между Солнцем, планетами и их спутниками.
Распространив этот аргумент на все объекты во Вселенной, Ньютон сформулировал закон всемирного тяготения.
