Во время положительных полупериодов входного сигнала, когда напряжение превышает или равно прямому падению напряжения диода, диод D1 проводит напряжение, в то время как D2 имеет обратное смещение. Форма выходного сигнала напоминает форму полуволнового выпрямителя.
И наоборот, во время отрицательного полуцикла, когда входное напряжение ниже, чем прямое падение напряжения диода, диод D1 отключается, пока проводит диод D2. Опять же, форма выходного сигнала отражает форму полуволнового выпрямителя.
Ток через резистор последовательно течет в одном направлении, в результате чего получается однополярный выход.
Повышенная эффективность выпрямления полноволнового выпрямителя позволяет использовать его в блоках питания, зарядных устройствах, усилителях звука и обработке сигналов.
Пиковое обратное напряжение в два раза превышает пиковое входное напряжение за вычетом прямого падения напряжения диода, что примерно в два раза больше, чем в случае полупериодного выпрямителя.

Полуволновой выпрямитель

Полупериодный выпрямитель — это устройство, которое преобразует переменный ток (AC) в постоянный ток (DC) и более эффективно, чем его полуволновой аналог. Обычно он включает в себя трансформатор с центральным отводом, два диода и нагрузочный резистор. Вторичная обмотка трансформатора разделена для обеспечения двух равных напряжений противоположной полярности, что является ключевым элементом двухполупериодного выпрямления.

Во время положительного полупериода сигнала переменного тока диод D_1 смещается в прямом направлении и проводит ток, а диод D2 смещается в обратном направлении и не проводит ток. Это создает положительный выходной сигнал, аналогичный выходному сигналу полуволнового выпрямителя.
Когда сигнал переменного тока входит в отрицательный полупериод, диод D_1 смещается в обратном направлении и не проводит ток, а диод D_2 смещается в прямом направлении, что позволяет току течь через него. Этот процесс меняет отрицательное напряжение на выходе на положительное, гарантируя, что выходное напряжение всегда имеет одну и ту же полярность. Нагрузочный резистор воспринимает однонаправленный ток, что приводит к однополярной форме выходного сигнала.
Полуволновые выпрямители имеют более высокую эффективность выпрямления и широко используются в источниках питания, зарядных устройствах, аудиоусилителях и приложениях обработки сигналов. Пульсации напряжения ниже, а частота пульсаций в два раза выше, чем у однополупериодного выпрямителя, что обеспечивает более плавный выходной сигнал постоянного тока с меньшими требованиями к фильтрации.
Пиковое обратное напряжение (PIV) в двухполупериодном выпрямителе в два раза превышает максимальное входное переменное напряжение (V_S), уменьшенное за счет прямого падения напряжения на диодах (V_D).

Full wave rectifier

A full-wave rectifier converts alternating current, or AC, into direct current, or DC. It is more efficient than a half-wave rectifier. The circuit usually uses a center-tapped transformer, two diodes, and a load resistor.

The center-tapped transformer is the key part of the circuit. Its secondary winding is split into two equal voltages with opposite polarities. That split lets the rectifier use both halves of the AC input waveform.

During the positive half-cycle of the AC signal, diode D1 is forward-biased and conducts. At the same time, diode D2 is reverse-biased and does not conduct. The output stays positive, much like the output of a half-wave rectifier.

During the negative half-cycle, D1 becomes reverse-biased and stops conducting. D2 then becomes forward-biased and carries the current. This action turns the negative half-cycle into a positive output, so the load resistor receives a unidirectional current and a unipolar waveform.

Full-wave rectifiers are widely used in power supply units, battery chargers, audio amplifiers, and signal-processing applications. They produce lower ripple voltage, and the ripple frequency is twice that of a half-wave rectifier. That gives a smoother DC output and usually means less filtering is needed. The peak inverse voltage, or PIV, is about twice the maximum input AC voltage minus the diode forward voltage drop, so the diodes must handle higher reverse voltage safely.
